Call it quits and sell it to me! :) OK I tried, I'd start looking for a new(used) engine. Plenty of them around and that will be the cheapest way out. Find one that has low miles and the seller will stand behind. If you choose to rebuild your not only going to pay the mechanic to R&I the engine...
Any smoke at all? The reason I ask is I had a glow plug break off when working hard going up a hill. That engine knocked bad for a few seconds then the knock dissappeared and a miss or skip kinda replaced it. I was limping it home when all of a sudden it smoothed out and ran fine. I can only...
I think it would be great, don't know about most states but it would be legal in NY as long as you have two outside mirrors and the front side widows couldn't be tinted beyond ??%
Did you do a pressure test on the coolent system BEFORE removing the heads? If so what did you see?
The water pump bolts is an idea I wouldn't have thought of, but if they leaked I think it would be at the same steady rate.
I can't say anything about Al. or that kind of cold, but I used a block heater on a civvie 6.2 for about 5yrs and never had a problem. Still have the engine in the garage as a spare. Also I used to use Rotella 15-40 and awitched to Rotella syn/blend in the gray jug, it starts faster and I swear...
The IP will not ''suck air" you may have an air leak at the intake manifold near the pump but not the pump itself. It is also very possible that the engine sucked some ether in thru the air cleaner.
Your doing fine! When useing the bell housing bolts to pull engine/tranny to gether BE CAREFULL! To much force can crack and break a chunk off the bell house! Just snug them up then wiggle, then snug, then wiggle then clunk IT'S IN!!! Don't worry about the T/C to flex plate bolts, it will turn(...
I know all the stuff up front is new, but it sounds like a warped rotor or loose wheel bearing. It does NOT sound like master cyl. or rear brakes. I jack up the front and 'wiggle' the tire up & down, left & right. That will tell you if you any play in king pins, wheel bearing or tie rods. If...
"IIRC"= If I Remember Correctly, at my age that's very importent. Oh yeah , it's only 700pounds :) There's nothing wrong with putting a little oil on those pins.
You really shouldn't have "jam" it together. If you have the motor sitting on the mounts then you shouldn't need to have the tranny tilted up in front. What you need is two people , one up top and one down below. I'm assuming that you have the Flexplate mounted on the crank and the converter...
I tried useing the cheap Auto zone and Advance fuel pumps, I thought they were a good deal because of cost and lifetime replacement. They ARE JUNK!! I don't think I or my son ever got much more than a year out of them. Not saying your problem is the pump BUT if it is go the few extra bucks for...
A local yard had about a dozen turbo'd 4bt's last summer, $1200 and I belive that included the 4spd tranny
Incase anyone's interested Bergen Auto Parts , Bergen NY. No connection to me.
IIRC, I took the hyd master cyl and lines off of a gas powered half ton so all of them MAY be the same. This advice is only worth what you paid for it!
If your still haveing trouble with it staying up (no pun intended) take a hack saw blade break off a piece about 4-6" long and grind the teeth off and clean the paint off. Use this 'tool' to slip in between the pump and housing to hold the push rod up till you get the pump in place and then just...
BTW An averge number is just that ONE NUMBER, It cannot be 18-20 or "about" or "aprox." The only true way to figure MPG is from tankful to tankful even just a couple tanks can be misleading. If you 'top off' all the way vs. as soon as it clicks off auto you leave it, that could be a gallon. Do...
Stuck hub? Not a problem! With the hub "unlocked" jack up the front and turn the wheel while looking at that wheels u-joint, the u-joint should NOT turn. If it does turn slip a scewdriver in there and turn the wheel again ( it may be turning cause of old or cold grease). I've never had on sieze...
Sorry about your loss and your troubles. As a side note , how long does it take you now to R&I the tranny? I know I got real good at R&I a small block years ago.
