After admiring your trucks pics in some other threads and your avitar I found this! I just went thru and loved it! I do have some questions, why did you have the split rims on the inside and why splits? And how did you determine that you wanted zero offset?
If you pull the glass to spray I would tape of the pinch weld where the windshield mounts, some of these are a pretty tight fit and the added mils of the materiel could be a problem install new glass.
Other than that I got nothing!
Do NOT drive with just one hub locked and the other unlocked!! Doing so will very quickly chew up the spider gears, I don't think it would matter weather you put in 2wd or 4wd.
Lots of places sell rockers and cab corners, check your local automotive paint supply house. They may carry them if not will know who does. Get the full or "OEM" style rocker and cab corner. Both are made to REPLACE rusted parts and not just cap over them. The full rocker has a hole in the...
Just keep looking, try to get a whole truck that way you have everything in one place. The doner truck does not have to be a desiel, it could be gas but then you'd still have to come up with a flywheel and they seem to be rare.
Check around and see if you have a local branch ofLKQ/ Keystone Automotive. The crash parts they have are a higher quality and you pick them up so no shipping charges and no dents. If you don't have one locally stop into a local body shop or auto paint supply and ask them where to get...
I replaced a block heater on my old civie 6.2 years ago and the the old timers at the auto parts store told me that the Katz heater were junk! Now I've delt with these guys for years selling them body parts and we're always upfront with each other. They ended up getting me (IIRC) an AC/Delco...
I had a civie 2wd p/u , 6.2 with the SM465 and 4.10(?) gears pulled great but did NOT like to go over 60mph. It would but sounded like it was going fall apart.
With that being said a few years ago (about 6) I put a 465 in a cucv but ditched the 4.56 for 3something and added an overdrive unit...
On my big truck I use Counter Act balanceing beads available at truck stops. Works great on big tires I'd assume they'd work as good on smaller ones too.
Timeing off, winter fuel, tire pressure, tire tread, tire side wall flex, cold weather=cold thick gear oil, tranny slipping, tourqe converter not locking ectect. There's a million things that work for/against MPG
well then maybe it's the afterburner?? I know a leaky seal can keep the engine running but to take off and max out the RPM's just that quick? I'd have to check and see if it even had a seal!
I've gotten pretty stupid with 6.2s in the past and I've never.... lets just say they've held up...
I just tuned back in and found this thread, alot and I mean ALOT of great guys here supporting each other. You should all be proud of yourselves, but then again thats what brothers do right, look out for each other.
Ron, please keep us updated and don't try to be superman! We all need a little...
If your looking for a cheap 4BT I was out at Bergen auto parts and they we're pulling about 10 of the bread trucks apart with the 4bt's in em, I think they said $1200 incl the tranny.
Replaceing the cable is easy comes as an assy. and 2 small hex head screws and a clip at the latch=done. Opening the hood is the challange! I did one years ago and IIRC I used a looong hook tool and reached up from under the truck and just kinda felt around til I tripped the release. The lever...
To bad your so far away from me, I have a complete tank setting outside that I would've given you.
I put the dual tanks in 2 other trucks and found that useing metal adhesive was the easiest way of fitting the filler door cut out. I did one and got hit about a week later and the adhesive held...
I normally don't recommend cheap tools from harbor frieght but I have there ball joint/U joint press, Great tool and cheap when on sale (IIRC aprox$20)
Have you checked for power at the fuse box? If not do so with a SHARP pointed test light, if it lights see my other post above. If not take a look under the hood on the driverside of the firewall, see that heavy red wire comeing from the passenger side and going to a little black terminal? Pull...
I had a simuler problem and turned out to be a poor connection at the fuse itself. I ended up cleaning the terminals (after unhooking the bats!) and gave the fuse box terminals a slight sqeeze to tighten them up, I also gave the fuze blades a slight twist. That was a couple years ago and no...
