As luck would have it I managed to obtain the first 305 for this project - I was exchanging messages with the seller about shipping while the e-place listing was ending - they were nice enough to complete the sale anyway. I am paying less than $450 to have it shipped cross-country (uship.com) -...
Not sure what you're talking about with "air frame," the Base-X shower systems attach directly to the inside of the tent frame (through the tent liner). The short side wall side of the roof is at 6'6" or there-about, with the tall center of the 203 at just a little over 8' - there is a more...
FY, that waviness you see in your demo video is what you get when you use a progressive shutter camera versus a global shutter. t's hard to find cameras where that is specified...
You can try a foam/gell vibration mount to take out the vibration from the camera mount. Should improve the video...
Total weight is an actual issue, so is cabling, and other infrastructure - which all adds up quickly. I figure I'm going to be pushing around 1.5Tons just with the basics above, might be closer to 3500lbs. That will affect the fuel economy of the hauler a lot, and the off-road capabilities...
The 40 gallons is just for the DC generator.
I'm looking at three SHC35's right now, I can afford them and have a place to store them. A simple overpressure blower with a Primary+HEPA filter on the tent with the sleeping partitions will keep the dust and crud out, venting out the stove-pipe...
I have considered an M939 series truck - but if I bought another truck right now my wife would leave me and take everything aua. I have a bus conversion project that will likely be a suitable substitute for a M939 - that's on hold until we get a house (yeah I'm doing all of this stuff while...
Believe me, if I could convince the wife to let me buy a LVSR, trailer, and a few Morehouse M75i expandable shelters, I'd be all over that!!
Then the issue becomes storing it... I would also do the GET 35KW trailer, but then I'm going to have half a truck after the XM1027 stretch that I have...
Nothing actual mil surplus - probably the bed-cut-off from my XM1027 stretch project (1.5ton Chevy dually crew cab "CUCV", not a real CUCV either :) ).
[EDIT:] Both donor trucks are 1.5-Ton Dually Camper edition, the trailer will be made out of the bed, rear frame and dually axle of the "spare"...
Another project I'd like to get started... As the thread title suggests, I'm looking to build a Forward Operating Base In-a-Can (FOBIC pronounced like "phobic" :) ).
This should be a trailer contained base camp, included tents, generator, latrine w/shower(s), and beds/bunks - it should be able...
Yup, Asterisk will be the VoIP server running on Ubuntu Linux Server 14.04 LTS or whatever current LTS version when I get to this.
I have that at home running my home phones and I'm well versed at coding for it. A few Digium cards will give me the inter-connectivity I seek:
Digium 1A8B03F...
A/C condenser for the shelter arrived (as did two others - spare and one for the XM1027).
This will be mounted to the front of the shelter like the A/C mounted on an M1010 - over-hanging the transporting truck a bit. 15k-btu is probably a little over-kill for a shelter, but I'll be running...
I used to run a recording studio. I know, my library at home has a shelf an a half (about 6 linear feet) dedicated to sound/vibration control books (aviation, structure, marine, process, etc...). I'm well read on the topic - I'm pretty sure I have a few Navy authored MIL-STD docs too in PDF...
Condensers came (all brand new-in-box. One is for the truck, one for the S-250 shelter project, and one spare. For the price I had to get three - I'll likely never see these for sale separate from a full RedDot kit again.
The one for the truck will be mounted on the roof over the rear row of...
Indeed, and I'm covered under two of the "authorized" definitions - usually an easy way to get under the wing of "authorized" is to join your local Search and Rescue team, usually run by the county. In my jurisdiction I can actually use red lights (though I don't).
I'm going out on a limb but I'm guessing the "this thing" is the whole truck - sounds like he's fixin' to turn it into a full trail buggy, full cage, chopped or removed: fenders, hood, portions of the bed...
CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE

(c) Any stoplamp or supplemental stoplamp required or permitted by Section 24603 this is a "third brake light" as defined in that section may be equipped so as to flash not more than four times within the first four seconds after...
My edit to my earlier post was probably missed by those who got in the thread early (no new email triggered when I did the edit).
I have yet to find this law, can you point to it? The laws I've found regulate signage posted on the road as an official traffic control device, not a safety sign...
Good, but IMHO too small. My above suggestion was based on Highway safety specs - you have to be able to see it and understand it far enough away for it to make a difference. 2cents
So the weeknights were a bust but I managed a few hours today...
Got the flex-plate off the crank:
I got the Dodge flywheel housing off the block:
Pulled the turbo and exhaust manifold:
Pulled the power steering pump and the left over crap from the transmission cooler:
So now all I...
