RE: New Hot Weather Tests on Electric Cooling Fan
It is interesting that the movement of the truck on the highway does not by itself flow enough air to cool it. I expected it to be fine on the highway even without a fan (cars are). Thanks for the datapoints and keep us posted in case you are...
RE: Re: enclosing the genset
I am sorry these are so long, hope it is not too boring or weird.
Thanks for all the support, I have not enclosed the set from the rear yet, but I will partially enclose it in a semi-permanent way, just like the front. I figure that sitting still, the thing is open...
RE: Re: enclosing the genset
After speaking with Gillette, and trying several tests, I have learned alot about the unit.
1. it should run at 61.5Hz no load
2. no-load volts might only be 113/226VAC or so.
3. half-load volts should be about 125/250VAC
4. full load volts should be about...
One hidden place I thought about using for a hidden condenser was opposite the air tanks. There's nothing there but space and if the air was blown down through it, it might work well. I would not face it forward. A grille could protect it from stones etc. Just a thought on it. Most likely i'll...
I think Bjorn had posted some calculations about fuel consumption, BTU in the diesel fuel, and we know the HP of the engine within reason. Might be enough to work something up.
Surprisingly they did not seem to have much information on that. I am sure they are buying it somewhere. He did swear that I'd have 20-45 PSI for the cranking, so it can't be too much of a slouch. The PSI is limited to 45 by the bypass valve, so it comes down to pump volume for the ultimate...
Finally, just in time for the "special annular san fransisco parade" a partner for the ...
TOMATO SAUCE TANK!!
(who's got the pics of the deuce with the pink camo and blazer axles with pimp wheels?)
RE: Re: RE: pre lube
It may not be popular to use the oil pan drain around here, but there's a drain plug fitting for the deuce oil pan that is very heavy duty and has two NPT holes. It came in the pelube kit I ordered and will soon install (weather permitting) The thread is 7/8-18 UNF...
Welcome! For 3K? maybe find a deuce that does not need too much. Be persistent and choose wisely for something with a good-working drivetrain, there are always bargains on all various kinds of MVs if you do some looking. I got mine for $4000 (less the shelter) 5 years ago and drove it home from...
The in tank pump is a centrifugal type with an impeller. The fuel can pass right through it, as evidenced by people running with dead pumps. The pump runs at all times the power switch is on.
Was your fuse worse than this...
Congratulations and welcome!
Yes, the steamy underbelly of the Deuce is a wonderful sight.. Lots of heavy metal. You have no doubt chosen the very best kind of MV!
I busted a gut literally removing a Pontiac GTO flywheel 20 years ago. But the Craftsman socket cracked first. The second one held. Sears replaced it, but the guy did ask how I managed to break it and was skeptical about a 24" snap-on rachet. He didn't argue about replacing it, just was...
