For those interested in getting a SEE, be advised - emmado22 here used to have those in his unit and said they were maintenance nightmares, due to the amount of hydraulic lines and other mechanicals taking up every available space in the engine bay. If you line wrenching in tight spots, this...
Got the NAPA part number for M37 shocks? I stopped by today to get a price, after I said what it was for the gent behind the counter looked up at me and said "oh, it's you again." They know I ask for weird stuff they can't find.
July 4th weekend will be the next maintenance weekend. Just some light trail work and mapping are required. We will primarily be using GPS to map a new trail, for the day workers to cut with dozers and saws during the weeks prior to the event.
The wheel is the same as the M37 Dodge rim. You might want to look at the Power Wagon pages as well and see if someone there has a spare.
Wish I saw this thread a year back, I had 5 spare rims, but I sold them last fall....
twa - had a 20mm ammo can like that years back. My friend still has it, it was a smoker, a grill, a stove, etc. Very cool but was a pain to use. Still wish I could have it back.
I was just rememberin', there were 5 to 6 bolt adapters so that older M101 trailer that used the M37 rims, could...
They are great for filling in the hole on the front grille of the deuce. Without it there would be a gaping hole that people would keep asking about, "what goes there?" I've had it happen.
Unfortunately, none I can tell you of. I'm interested in these buggers too, they are just too cool looking, probably the most affordable tracked vehicle out there. From what I understand and was told, all the XM501s were auctioned off in one lot, a lot of scrap, many years back. The missile...
One thing I noticed is that the CUCV has the 8-bolt wheels, and the M101 trailer has the older M37-style 5-bolt wheels. He will need to upgrade the trailer to the 8-bolt axle in order to haul only one spare tire, otherwise he will need to carry one for the CUCV and one for the trailer.
I have seen plows put on deuces and 5-tons, and the amount of structure that has to be added to the lower front frame area to support the plow setup isn't worth the effort, in my mind. Get a civvy plow truck and be happy. Trust me, you will be happy.
You might also want to put a nice thick bead of silicone or bedliner in the drip rail after you paint it. Put the bead down, then use a junk spoon or your thumb to smooth the bead into the bottom of the drip rail. Should help wick the moisture away from the drip rail area, and prevent further...
If I come, it will be in a civvy vehicle, but I'm not doing anything Saturday. In a better year, financially, I'd be in Haspin now, but it is what it is.
