You can choose to skin that cat however you like. Whether you need a timer or not really depends on the application. So, what you call a "best practice" may work for you but may be highly impractical for someone else's application. That is why I would be reluctant to call most things that are...
Hi all,
I wanted to start a thread for people to collectively post their parade pictures. There are almost 500 parade threads, but not a single one that everyone can post their pictures to. Upon posting, please provide some general information about the parade. This is a positive thing for...
The most important question you need to ask yourself is: What is the total load of the 12v components that you wish to have?
If you don't plan on running something super serious, like a 12v winch, then for the simplicity and price you should probably install a voltage converter or several...
A timer is overkill unless you suffer from some sort of short term memory issue. Using a timer is certainly not the norm for a good reason and implying that the using a relay isn't proper, just comes across as silly and ill thought.

In my opinion this is the best looking bobbed 5-ton. Probably a little easier to build to since you can put a deuce bed on it which means you don't have to torch anything. Also, you can still put a canopy on it...
If someone is choosing to use the 720w/30A Pyle converter, then I would suggest installing a relay, solenoid, or breaker (rated at 30A or greater) before the converter so that it isn't powered when not in use. I like the 100A solenoid because I have two of the converters (30A + 30A = 60A) and my...
You need a solenoid switch. I got mine on amazon or ebay from a company in middle GA. It is 24v and I think 100A. If you can't find one online let me know and I'll dig up where I got mine from. Mine is pictured below. It lets me kill all my accessories with 1 switch on the dash.
I have two of these Pyle 720 watt converters in my M35A3 and I swear by them (not at them). This topic seams to come up all the time and I am always pushing the inverters because they are cheap, easy, and work very well. rThey put out a lot of power too. See the build thread link in my...
What was the total for 2012? Just curious as to how far we were from our goal. I really like 3dAngus's idea. I also think we should consider a donation at check in during the next SSGR, or any rally for that matter.
Apparently the link after your link is broken but just looking at the pics I don't think you could wire too much to it at 12v. I mean, it doesn't look very substantial. You might power a cell phone charger off of it but that is about all.
