On the serial number on the frame, I just uncovered mine this week on my WC52. It will take some scrapping and a wire brush, it took me awhile to find the number. Remember, it is under 70 years of paint.
I have seen (been collecting WWII vehicles for over 30 years) the frame number, the military...

Good morning, the one I got from Brent is going on a jeep. I have had it for awhile but still do not have it here. The welding garage that did the work on it has it on display in front of the shop under cover. I asked them would they mind displaying it till I get the jeep done, they love...
There is a complete 106 for sell on G503.com. Look under M38A1s for sell. The gun is looks complete. Brent Mullins has the 106s also, but like Christmas, some assembly is required. I got mine from Brent and was very happy with it. It went back together nice.

Wow, two things to post on here.
First, if you go to time 0904 on the film you will see what looks to be a rare M1 carbine holster being worn by the officer in the coveralls.
Two, my neighbor was in this unit! He has a 1945 GPW marked up as this unit. He also has a very nice German collection...
That is a post war modification. Alot of it was done over in Europe after the war. There was alot of trucks given to NATO. As time went on and the trucks were rebuilt, some were stripped of thier bodies and special bodies put on. Even the US did this after the war. They took WC54 ambulances...
I have had one of them for about 15 years when the Marines sold them off. On mine I have mounted a generator and an air compressor. The plan was when I go to a junk yard that I knew had old military trucks I could take power and air tools with me.
Great little trailers.
I have a second one...
On the rust issues. Look at the tool compartment that is under the bed of the truck near he front of the box, there will be a little door. Look under the headlights. If he does not have a top on it and you can fold the windshield down they also rust under the windshield where the windshield...

Both jeeps are M38A1s, maybe yours was a later one and costing more. They did have a long production run.
My first halftrack also had a "cost" stencil on it.

Drove both the M1008 and the M880 while I was a Marine, plus have owned more M37s than I can count.
I would go with the M1008 as a daily driver. I did not like the M880 at all, sorry, but to me it felt like a very cheap pick up truck painted camuflage, and it had no gas mileage. The ownly...
I do not think it should have the 94- number, I think that would have been on a later vehicle.
My Navy M38A1 still has the markings on it. It was marked just like the Marine vehicles, with a 6 diget number for the 1950s.

With wife number one, I gave away an entire gun collection trying to save the marrage, to include WWII sniper rifles.
Been married to wife number two for 15 years fills like we are still dating it is so much fun being with her.
Oh, the toys, I am now some where over 200 military guns in the new...

You are right on the body, you are also dead on with the parts jeeps. I tell new collectors all the time, a parts truck can pay for itself the first time you need a part.

Does a M38A1 generator cost $75? I am asking because I have not priced one, do not laugh but, sence the 1970s. Then it was over $250 for a 24 volt generator from Sears.
I still have the Sears catalog from 1977, I would go to Columbia, SC that is where the Sears store was for me. I have been...
Alot, now it just a farm jeep. Very good chance it has also been converted to 12 volts.
I picked one last year with a tail gate cut into it for $1500. Yours has a better body, this one ran, and was still 24 volts. The tail gate was cut out but I am mounting a 106 on it so that did not matter...
I just did a fast look and found 4 photos, but none of the "Oversexed". I found my dad standing in front of two UH1s with the nose art of "the hunter" it has girl holding a rifle looking back at you over her shoulder, the other UH1 has Devil or Angel II" on the nose.
My dad was a vet of WWII...
I will look for the photos. We lived at one place for 20 years and just moved to a new farm 4 years ago. I am still unpacking stuff. I think I know where they are at.
I will get back to you.

M38A1s did not have tailgates. Most have had tailgates cut into them after they were surplused out....but! if you look under the rear part of the body, is there an overload springs in place on the axles, then it could have been cut out by the military for the 106 RR mount.

My Dad trained on the UH1B models. In the book "We were soldiers, and young" my mom highlighted the names of soldiers who knew my dad and would come over to our house. I still have have dads manuals on the UH1B. His huey in Viet Nam was named "Over Sexed". That was painted on the nose with two...
