I want an UAZ 469.
All I'm interested in is the body and the frame.
It wouldn't hafta run, or even have an engine to to what I wanna do to it.
Here is a link to a very good primer on air brakes. It's on the Flxible Clipper website (was contemplating picking one up several years ago), but 99.99% of the info would still be applicable to one of these trucks:

I'm deinitely going to try and make it. I'm afraid I'll probably still be truckless, but I'm working on that.
What was I thinking all this time that Uwarrie was further away than it actually is?
Check out the vietnamjeep.net link in his sig. Looks like they have quite a few UAZ 469s and the similar Beijing Jeeps, as well as a smattering of more contemporary hardware.
ODdave is buying a set of M101a2 trailer springs from me. Problem is, they are heavy, and I do mean HEAVY! And I'm afraid that Brown or White Santa would want an arm, a leg, and a first born to get them up there. Not only that, they would need to be in some mighty stout packaging to make it...

Didn't think a Blackhawk had enough balls to do that!
Suprised I haven't seen anything like that down here (never saw an Apache or Osprey in action prior to moving down this way).
Arrived home @ 1800. Aside from a couple missed turns, the trip was uneventful.
It was a pleasure to meet you all and I DO plan to come back in the future, hopefully driving something other than a Sprinter.
This method will NOT work, because there is a little metal shelf sticking out about halfway down inside the pocket, I guess it's there to keep the stakes from going too far down inside? I tried to get a pic of it, but none of them came out very well. :(
Managed to get most of them out by driving a crowbar into the 2x2 with a hammer and prying up. Managed to bust off two more though, :( so that leaves three that I am going to try the "wood bit and chisel" trick on.
Just tried to post a bupkiss ad...and it let me!
I was under the assumption that the forum software would automatically "switch on" the privilege once you crossed the 100 post milestone. I guess that is not necessarily the case?
