Haha...those are my two favs!!!
How about
"SteelSoldiers.com.... You know you want one."
"SteelSoldiers.com.... I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am!"
:D
I've used freeze spray a few times (that's all the loctite thing above is)....with some success. Just remember that steel gets more brittle as it's chilled....more so for heat-treated stuff (like grade 8 and 9), so be careful.
I would try an impact wrench if you can get it in there to pop them...
FEDERAL ODOMETER LAW Motor Vehicle Cost Information Act, 49 U.S.C. Section 32704

HAHA! Not exactly what I had in mind...
I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I am watching this thread closely for updates. These trucks have a high "cool" factor and it's just so great to see them being restored with such care and attention to detail.
I wish I had the resources you...
Welcome Blacktop! Yes, that is somewhat normal if it's been sitting for a while, as long as the smoke isn't like a thick acrid smoke screen (see WM's engine post!). The condition is called "wet stacking"...google that term and you'll see what it is.
Give it a good hard run...100 miles or so...
Bigger pics I think he meant to post:

The winch is pretty close to the radiator in stock form....in fact, you a have to take off the lower rock guard. I bet there's less than 1" of space between the winch and the radiator.
Short of going with a different winch, I don't see any way to push it back any further...it's already tight.
Remember that on the Jimmy's, the high/low range is in the trans, not the x-fer case. If you replace the engine & tranny, you will either need to find (and engineer into place) a x-fer case that has high/low range, or just not have low range in the final truck (which would be a shame).
That's...
Great info! Too bad they are not rebuildable in any way. :( Since they are not making these pumps any more, I think in the future keeping these trucks running will be a challenge as these things wear out (amongst other things).
When mine dies, I'll be plumbing in a walbro FRB-15 pump. Cheap...
Excellent silentbob! Those are some pretty big tires...I think the largest I've seen (personally) mounted on an otherwise stock truck (standard distance between the tandems). I'm curious to know if you have any rubbing at speed or during any articulation of the suspension (especially in the...
This is great info M16ty, but I think there's more to this we'd need to know before cranking out pins.
Is it 2024-O, 2024-T3, or 2024-T351? (The latter being heat treated versions of the 2024 alloy, 2024-O being not treated).
I'm not sure what tests were run, but the heat treating would make...
You should install a coolant filter as a bypass filter. You don't want coolant flow to be obstructed if/when the filter clogs.
It will still remove plenty...over time all of the coolant makes it through the filter and is cleaned. It's a pretty smart way to do it.
