Thanks for the offer. Since I haven't had this 1009 very long I wanted to stay on the more traveled routes. I guess that was good since I don't know how long of a walk to AutoZone I would have had otherwise.
What are some of the issues installing the a/c kit? Would it be better to find a M1010 and salvage some of the a/c components off of it like the compressor bracket?
I've bought 3 1009s from GL since February and each had it's good and bad issues.
#1 - Ran good, looked fairly good, had a LOT of rust issues inside below the rear seat - not a spot GL photos - SOLD
#2 - The Keeper. Looked great in the photos and they said it ran. Turns out the right motor...
I got the correct belt and it turns out the AutoZone belt was not only an inch shorter but it was also too wide which took away another 1/2" at least by not seating in the grooves. Total time to take off Gen2 belt, remove incorrect Gen1 belt, reinstall both and crank it up about 10 minutes. Of...
I've been trying to catch up with Sarge and Rory but since there's only 1 of me it's going to take twice as long.
I didn't mention, because I don't like people feeling sorry for me or anything, but I do have Multiple Sclerosis. One of the things that affects MS is heat so when I say my head...
Unfortunately in TX the "no plate" option is not widely known among the LEOs. I've been pulled over twice and even though I have a copy of the statute in my glovebox the only thing that saved me from a ticket was also having a trip permit. Yeh, I could have gone to court and probably got it...
Want to trade for a nice M101A1? Sorry, after yesterday I'm not going to deliver it. (although I will be in Pullman in August for a wedding so I could pick the truck up then )
Thanks for the compliments on the trailer guys. It apparently was just overhauled before they turned it in. All fresh paint, new covers on the tailgate chains, new fiberglass racks and bows and 2 brand new tires. The only thing missing is 1 of the lifting hooks.
The downside is they didn't...
Well the 2 blocks winds up being about 1/2 mile one way and it's now in the mid 80s with me dressed for arctic training. It actually was uphill both ways as I was parked at the top of one hill, went down into a valley and the AutoZone was at the top of the next hill. And of course for anyone who...
So Monday I froze my butt off on the way over so I figure I'll dress a little warmer for the trip back and it was still in the low 60s when I got up Tuesday morning so I figure I'll be more comfortable this time around.
Now I'm headed westbound on IH30 and everything is going fine. The trailer...
Bright and early Tuesday morning (early since I woke up at 0400 and couldn't get back to sleep) I head over to Camp Robinson to meet up with the GL guy. We were supposed to meet at 0730 so I parked down the road a bit and played poker on my cell phone (ain't technology great) and he actually...
Or "It ain't Hell but I can see it from here."
So I have to go to Little Rock to pick up a M101A1 that I recently purchased. I figured get a copilot, take Monday to liesurly drive over from San Antonio, spend the night, pick up the trailer, and home before NCIS comes on Tuesday night. No...
Thanks. Too bad it wasn't a couple of weeks ago as I had to make a mad dash to Polk and back. This drive is going to be longer and hotter. I'll probably be ordering the A/C unit for OD Iron once I get back. No matter how acclimated I am with the MS I tend to melt at anything over 85. Just...
I'm heading to Little Rock from San Antonio and back Mon/Tue if anyone needs a pick-up or delivery. Only room in a 1009 on the way over but will be pulling a M101 on the way back.
You might try applying a little heat to the plug before attempting to take it out. No matter what, if it's already damaged you should plan on replacing it anyway.
The one furthest to the front is on the u-joint. If you can't see it you may need to jack it up and rotate the shaft. It's a tight fit so a flex hose is easiest to use.
I'm not sure about the one needing the needle fitting.
Any regular automotive grease should work for normal useage. The problem with the 1009 is that you need a grease gun with a needle fitting for the front shaft. You should be able to get an adapter that will fit your regular grease gun at your auto parts store. Pull up the Lube Order in the...
