The M 52 I am getting soon has the same issue I took out the filler and screen and could dig up complete hand fulls of shellac and crud. Jeff was kind enough to let me have a newer tank off of his truck and I am getting ready to mount that this week. I will restore the other side when I get it...
Joseph and all the thing is I am geographicly handicapped and structurally ingenious so the cheap and I do mean cheap dolly will take on the form of a heavy duty lifting device on the back of my M 969. I look at it as a symbiosis and the memory of the dolly will be there in the rubber on the...
This is my third dolly the papa bear of all of them and I want to get it home to use the good 1100 20's on the M 52 I am going to take a quart of PB Blaster and a 12 pound sledge to break them free and get the dolly home. I bought all of them for a song and just for the tires but this one is...
Thanks for the advice I will be trying to get it moved on Thursday, I would have taken pictures of the brake but it is in the secure area at Aberdeen you are not allowed to take in any phone or camera. These brakes are a small spring can with another smaller can attached between the spring and...
As most of us know the spring brake on a truck or in this case a trailer have very strong springs under compression in the can. These must be caged to work on the brake and when caged the brake should release. I am working on trying to move a trailer out of GL and I could not get either of the...
I know he is home now just pouring over the manuals and going out every five minutes to look at it or go sit in the cab, Mine has been with me for four years and I still feel that way about it. Great picts so far hope to see some more soon,
My duece power steering is a couple of guns that have propelled me to max the PT test in the Army, I never got any complaints from duece drivers when they were in our unit.
Any updates on cranes for the duece? I am moding my braces to reduce the bending in the bed and I will post picts of that when done. Just one of my best additions to the duece and it has lifted a lot saving my back from a lot of icy hot. ADR was looking for the licence plate location on my...
Well my tractor lust factor just went up about 200% and I am just content to know that it is in a good home and I hope to post a similar story when I get to pick up the M 52 from Virginia which I am planning to drive home too. Congrats to the new owner and Bruce I am sure you did hate to see...
Strykers have pulleys or if you want to be manly and call them mounted blocks in pre-posisitioned places to route the winch line to the correct spot. Go ahead and break your young back but I am old and need mechanical advantage.
Great job:
Funny thing is the Russian trucks all have their winches located in the rear like that and have built in pulleys to direct it to the front if need be. I have always found it easier to recover a truck back from where it came and when I first saw one of those over in the Balkins I...
Good old Harbor Frieght had one on sale recently for under $50 and I snapped it up with an extra set of needles. They are the tool to remove rust on heavy steel period. Short of high pressure sand blasting with black beauty abrasive and way less messy. I too shook my brains out as a Coast...
I know I had a fault without spark for a long while and traced it down to a bad ground in the distributor. Simple little cleaning got the engine working again. I don't know if this applys to your engine but thought it might help.
Awesome Video Chris:
This will be the sweet truck at Aberdeen next to Clints fresh paint and Marks brand new duece, my old girl will be a wallflower but I am still gonna ask her to dance.
Looks nice but I wonder if he wrapped the winch cable too far and so replaced the upper strap with C Channel? Looks like the drivers seat has seen a bit of flatulance too but I would have done more than that if the F16 got that close to me driving down the road.
Awesome thanks for posting the pictures. What a difference we have in armored personnel carriers now. Our trucks are not too different from WW II in many respects but the tracks have taken quantum leaps. Thanks for preserving our history and for doing the re-enactments so more kids and folks...
Nick:
UDAMAN that must have rocked getting the water to all those folks. I bet a lot of them thought you were the National Guard I hope you let them know the Steel Soldier rational of helping out goes for many of us here. Thanks for support them and for posting the great shots.
Wow look at all the Military Iron in Maryland. I hope that we all get to Aberdeen to chat in May. I would like to know of more places in Maryland that I could drive my duece and M 1009 and soon to be mine M 52 in the woods. Very nice shots of a couple of first class trucks and Steel Soldiers.
