The base will require yo to go through an inspection to make sure you are not bringing weapons explosives or alcohol/ drugs on base. Have two government or other offical photo IDs for you and any passenger and keep your GL paperwork handy for a reason to come on base. Unless there is a reason...
I can tell you that I have found way more things in lots than they advertized and in the long run I am probably way ahead of them shorting me on a lot. I try to save the pictures and page on any lot I am serious about it has helped me ID the lot when I pick it up and the GL guys always pay...
RE: Re: RE: got a expandable van(292A2)
I have spent months in those trucks in the field and in combat zones, they are really good trucks and the space inside when expanded really is great. I built custom hang down tables suspended from the top rails. It was nice having a welding shop and all...
Great News it is hard to score a 5 ton 800 series these days with 8500 lurking around and so many I have seen marked hold for foreign military sales. I am sure you will love that truck I had to teach the engineer unit in Fort Devens what a tailgate spreader, for that very type of truck, was...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Cheap 5-ton tractors in VA
I was working on the one fuel tank I took off and it has a couple of badly rusted holes in the bottom I am leaning on purging it and brazing it. Do you think this is the best COA for me to take? I took about two pounds of crap off the...
I saw a lot of the TATRA truck varients in the Balkans as I worked closely with the Russian and other former Eastern Block counties over there. The do rock and are so well thought out that it reminded me that we got our CTIS idea from the Soviets. One should also remember that the Nazi's...
You might have wanted to tack this onto the thread about the heaviest load carried and caveated it with the best milage too. I have hauled very heavy things on my bicycle over in Iraq just to bring it back to proper accountability I hauled an M2 50 caliber from the boneyard to the arms room...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Cheap 5-ton tractors in VA
I am waiting on the title work to come back from Virginia since I am driving it home I want to ensure that I have it registered and insured before heading out. I am hoping that it will be sometime in April and if I am really aggressive I...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Cheap 5-ton tractors in VA
I have been going out to the museum at least once a week to work on the truck and right now the one saddle tank is on the back rack of my Suburban. I am planning on using a newer tank to get it home. The issue I am facing with the saddle tanks is...
Jatonka:
It was nice meeting you at Jim Thorpe and I am not sure the hubs are the same, I thought you were getting better hubs like the Overson ones only made of steel with roller bearings. http://www.ouversonengineering.com/inc/sdetail/204 If that is the case the price difference is...
RE: bead breaker
I spent a year as a heavy truck mechanic in upstate New York and had one old dump truck come in with two flats and it took me over a half hour of beating with the Kentool hammer and diesel fuel poured around it several times. I did get it off on them but ruined the ring since...
Picked it up today thanks for the advice
Wow the big 12 pound hammer did the trick although it took many blows to each wheel they did free up. When I first started towing it I could only do 25 before it started violently shaking like an old CJ front end when worn. I stopped at the first place...
I would run I 495 past Andrews AFB, up to I 95 to the tunnel. Just my 2 cents but I drive the area every day and the highways all have shoulders when the side roads do not always have room to pull over the whole serial.
Will this be on Thurdays or Wednesday of the week just want to make sure but I would be waiting on the side at the northern intersection of 695 and 95 since I live not too far from there. I will PM you my cell phone for the contact.
Thanks this sounds like so much fun
When will you all hit Baltimore? I would love to tail end into the last leg it is so close I don't know if I will hit operating temp or not depending on how warm the May day is. I have been working on the M52 and don't know if I will have that ready or not but the duece and CUCV are ready and...

RE: Got to use again
How much free garbage are they going to give you for helping them out? Sorry had to ask... I would use a couple of A- frames made of 4X4's and the chain falls and drive out from under it, that is how I got my engine and container off of my trailer.
I really like the cane in the shot shows the age of the truck real well.... nice find and funny how the dud backed up and bent the right taillights and the left mudflap. Nice to know it is going to a Steel Soldier hope you find one soon.
