David, as far as a trailer, I'm thinking the M146 would fit the bill for our needs. We used the deuce for hauling our deer camp equipment every year, but since it is now sold, we need something else that can do the work. The m146 trailer was designed for the...
RE: Re: RE: Trailer buying advice needed
Uglysteve, I used to have a LR Discovery. Nice vehicle! I never pulled a trailer with it, but they have a powerful V8 engine and I would not hesitate towing an M101 with it.
Thought I'd post a couple pics of the trucks leaving for their new home. There were actually 2 semis here. The other one was a heck of a big roll back trailer that got the trucks up onto the carrier. They are scheduled to arrive at the new owners place this Wednesday.
We strapped it to the top of the front bumper. The towbar is the same length as the bumper. The M151 tow shackles make a good stop for the bar as it fits nicely behind them.
The tow lights are magnetic mount. The front half of an M105 trailer harness is grafted to the taillight harness section. You can see part of it in this picture. The 12v bulbs were replaced with 24V. Pappa-G's Jeep has been dubbed the official chase vehicle, although the lights can be mounted on...
OK, here are some pics of my M818 recovery from Stout Field in Indiana a couple weeks ago. Not many from the actual road trip just a couple getting the jeep hooked up to the tow bar for the return trip, a few pics once it was home and a couple of the auction pics. It was one of the depot rebuilt...
Same thing happened to mine. It broke through the outside half of the mounting hole. There were air pockets in the casting that created a weak point. I was able to use a bolt and nut with washers to remedy it. There is not very much of a load put on it anyway.
Man that burns me up when I hear about that happening!!! It's been done to me before too. I soooooo wish I lived closer to KY. I would pay the guy a visit for SURE!!!
Here's an idea to generate a bit more $$ for SS. As part of our advertising contract with GL, maybe we could also arrange the yearly donation of a MV from them and put it up for auction on our site with the proceeds to go for SS expenses. They get to write it off and we get the revenue. Just...
Yeah, hated to see them go. Had an offer I couldn't refuse though. Haven't seen you on the forum much lately Dave. I figured you were elbow deep into the M37 resto. How's it coming? Got any 'in progress' pics? Bet your dad is getting excited!
When you try to crank the engine over, does the volt gauge show a draw? If not, try tapping on the starter a few times with a hammer. Sometimes a little corrosion and the cold will not allow contact. Also, you stated things are being intermittant..... Sounds like you need to check some grounds...
I agree. I guess we've gleaned that '686' desert tan is now FS 33446. But I'm still confused.
Why do the pictures from Olive-drab look like the lighter 33722, but they are calling it the 686, FS33446. Zak's truck looks like the charted 33446 color, a darker, 'gray' color.
Benni72's truck also...
