Going back to Coleman's on Pearl Harbor Day

I know the towbar you're speaking of 'back in the weeds.' It's not the monster like I have but it's a lot heavier than the medium ones. I've been thinking of picking it up... ;)

I'm looking at getting the big bad 10ton. . .

Those are the Denman tires. If you look closely you'll see the slight zigzag of the tread. -just a word...this isn't Pirate 4x4 where you can flame someone because you stubbed your toe or whatever so try and keep it on a certain level. Aside from that if you were getting a lot of questions...

I'm looking at getting the big bad 10ton. . .

It's not of the VT 903's. It's a V8-300 like mentioned above. The tranny and transfercase are bolted together in one unit and share one of the main thru shafts. So, again...as mentioned above, how to power the front axle. Also, that's a nice overdrive but do you think a truck with 10.11:1...

List of mods I have completed on my deuce

Bjorn, question about an item in the first list: The seperated rear brake lines. Isn't that asking a couple of things to battle each other? When you lock up one side of the rear, through the differential design, the other side will be overspeeded from how fast you initially were/are...

    towing/pulling in reverse

OH...AND lets not forget open differentials. You'll probably end up with ONLY 4 of your 8 rear tires spinning anyway using one side or the other from each axle. Not enough weight to really really plant them in...unlike 3,000# PER front tire. That kind of weight pretty much seats the tires so...

    towing/pulling in reverse

Okay...just for grins lets say the stock truck, at 13,000#, has 6,000# on the nose and 7,000# rear...if it were scaled. My truck weighs 18,000 and is 8,000 and 10,000 respectively. Back to the example, so you'd have 3,000# PER front tire (6,000/2=3,000) and only 875# PER tire rear...

    towing/pulling in reverse

The rears may have a lot more tires to do the work, however, you spread the load out from two tires with all the nose weight + you line pull on them to 8 tires and less weight. So your traction is poor even though you've got 8 gummies trying to hook up. Also, if your line pull on the rear is...

    towing/pulling in reverse

I also feel that because of the load on the nose; engine, pulled line, etc... that you have far greater traction on the singles (similiar to what mudlord said) than pulling from the rear. In certain applications the rear, because of all the tires, doesn't have the contact pressure on the tires...

    Why is it called "early?"

Or because one stopped production in '55 and the other in what...like '85? I don't think a debate on which had the first bolt tightened is really necessary (very informative though) when one has 30 plus years production time-

Any one put a turbo on the 250 cummins?

I thought I'd be clever when I put the V8 Cat into my deuce truck and follow the stock non mufflered exhuast. Stock actually is mufflered as the turbos are considered muffling devices and do cut back on the ear piercing rasp. So now I have two stacks stopping ahead of the cab...LOUD. If the...

    Spare Truck @ Yard

At some point I'd like to find an old hulk like that and dump that 375hp 8V71 into it for my heavy hauler. Do ya happen to know what that truck weighs as it sits?
