This is what I'd try. You'll have service brakes until the tanks run dry. If you have major air leaks this won't work.
By caging the brakes you will release them but you'll have no service brakes unloading it. I've done it but it can get pretty exciting coming off a trailer with no brakes.
Keeping with my snake theme I came up with another idea. Materials needed- 1 big fake snake, some fishing line. Lay the snake on the seat. Tie the fishing line around the snake's neck. Tie the other end of the line around the inside door handle. When somebody opens the door the line will pull...
There was a local guy that had a big pond stocked with catfish. he had a bunch of trouble with people stopping by and catching his fish. He put several signs around the pond that said " Rattlesnake habit area, please don't disturb the snakes". This fishing came to an abrupt halt.
Maybe you...
I think he was joking. Dog bones are not something you just remove and replace in 5 min. I would either sell my deuce or move if I had to remove the dog bones to keep it from getting stolen.
It wouldn't be too hard to attach a jib to the end of the boom. We've added jibs to cranes at work before but it's not something you should do without knowing the engineering specs and are a competent welder.
Deuce theft is very, very rare. Those things stick out like a sore thumb and draw a lot of attention going down the road and are slow.
As has already been mentioned, I'd be more worried about the scrap theives
I agree. I'm just trying to hash all this out. I'm a certified crane operator and have built from scratch booms that lift over 100,000lbs. I guess I'm trying to say that this Gin pole idea isn't my first rodeo.
I haven't done it but I can figure how much it can lift and keep the front wheels on...
I'm not a mod or in any way a spokesman for the site but I can tell you why. If you don't want big arguments there are two topics you avoid, politics and religion. As it is now we all talk as friends on here about MVs. That would quickly change if politics were thrown into the mix.
I can talk...
There's no way you could go wrong paying scrap price for this truck.
When you say "front axle is bad" what do you mean? If it's the center chunk that is bad, they can be found anywhere for cheap. I've seen rear axles go for $200 that uses the same guts. If it's got a bad axle shaft it could...
True. There's really no reason to rebuild the whole winch if it's only leaking on the input and there are no other problems.
I've been running corn head grease in mine ever since the rebuild about a year ago. It will help on leaks. I say help because if you've got a good leak the corn head...
The 5:1 ratio would be easy to overcome. Just add parts in the line.
I'm also not sure winches have the 5:1 safety rating. I know on our cranes the winch just stalls (hyd) when we get to winch rated load. That would lead me to believe the winch is maxed out at that load. If the winch stalls we...
10K would be great. [thumbzup]
Wouldn't be too hard to add stiff legs. Only down side would be you couldn't move under load with the stiff legs.
I'm taking about mounting the A-frame (gin poles) on the back, not the front.
I know the rating for front A-frame- 1,500 lbs. I think it's listed...
Ron, What about "parting out" adds as far as pricing? I do have a add up right now parting out a truck. I have a list of several items with prices but not all items on the truck that is for sale. Several "parting" adds don't have any pricing.
I'm just trying to get a official ruling on this...
I've searched and looked in the TMs but I've yet to find a load chart when using the gin poles on the pipeline truck.
I've thought about adding a winch to the front of my deuce cargo bed to hoist stuff into the bed. I'm thinking I may also add some gin pole mounts to the back of the bed if I...
Every time I finish a winching operation, I'll look under the truck to make sure the driveshaft isn't spinning with the clutch out. I just want to make for sure the PTO is in neutral before I head out.
Being a crane operator, I deal with this all the time. If one of our employes aren't flagging we will have a meeting before the lift. I will find out who the flagger is and if he knows crane hand signals. From time to time they will say they know but will still screw up. The worst is a lot of...
