I just picked up my M936 from GL today. Everything works fine except the spring brakes. I can't get them to operate at all. The funny thing is they are in the released position. In other words, with zero air pressure in the truck the spring brakes are still released. Working the parking brake...
Most of the time I'll go ahead a send in the EUC within minutes of auction close if I'm at the computer. They've always accepted it.
Just for clarification, You won't get a PTF invoice until your EUC clears. You'll get an invoice within 24hrs but it won't say "paid in full" until the EUC clears.
That doesn't sound right. Most (if not all) farms have roads and driveways. Hauling gravel to your farm is directly related to farming. I can understand you not being able to haul gravel to your neighbor or something but if you're hauling to your own farm I don't see how that can't be related to...
Personally, I like the soft top. I does seem quieter to me than a hardtop. They aren't much easier to remove than the hardtop though but they are a lot lighter.
I'm actually getting the whole truck but the bed is coming off. One of the hyd pumps will stay on the truck to run the new bed that is going on (to be announced ;-)).
Yea. I'm taking the Freightliner down tomorrow and hauling it in.
Well I figure if I use the outriggers there won't be too much weight on the frame when lifting. By my rough calculations, I figure the complete bed weighs around 12K. I figure I can strip it down to less than 10K.
I'm picking the bed up Friday so I'll have a better look at it. That was what I...
The current winch I running is a hyd 45k line pull. I was hoping to get the two speeds of the M936 winch. I may just swap the level wind onto my current winch and leave it at that. I may do some testing on the M936 winch before I give up on using it.
I figured somebody would comment on that when I posted the pic.
The problem is 3/4 cable is almost imposable to keep straight without the level wind. If you'll notice there isn't much cable on the drum. There is only enough to operate the neck on the m870 (I'd say less than 50'). We keep...
I'm fixing to be the new owner of a M936 wrecker bed. Just the bed. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with it.
I wonder if you stripped it down if it would still be too much for the deuce? I would only use it for crane operations and no towing. I don't need the rear winch and I...
I have a M936 rear winch on the way but if Jeff is right I may not be able to use it as intended. I've got a M816 rear winch mounted on my KW. It has been converted to hyd and will pull 45K or very close to it. The only problem is it's very slow. I was planning on swapping it out with the M936...
Personally, I don't tink they are worth a dime. About the only thing they are good for is if you have to get out of somewhere fast with a flat tire. Unless you plan on seeing combat with your truck, they aren't needed. If you do run your tire flat with a run-flat, the tire will be ruined in...
I have seen a couple but it has been quite a while ago. I haven't seen any since I've been in need of one but I haven't been looking much either. I don't recall what they were listed under or what they sold at.
The valve on mine is bad also. It doesn't leak but is frozen in the closed position (I've already broken the handle trying to open it). I've searched a little but haven't been able to come up with a valve yet. I have seen them on ebay in the past.
I use mine to water livestock and only use the...
Yes.
A rule of thumb is oil in the coolant is the oil cooler. Coolant in the oil is head gasket or another internal engine problem. This rule is not always right but it's been my experience over the years.
Oil cooler is the first thing I'd check and go from there.

Yes, you can paint the engine with it.
Personally, I like the 383 green CARC substitute which would not be the original color but more than likely the color it's painted now.
I know how you feel. I bought a M50 tanker a little while back that turned out having a blown engine. Like you, I figured "parts truck" before I ever bid. If it turns out you got a good truck you score big, if not it's not the end of the world.
Also, any time you see parts missing off a GL...
