    Rear PTO Leak

If you didn't pour much in (a quart or less) I doubt it will hurt anything. Like I said above, there is a check plug on the side of the t-case. If you have oil leaking out that high up the level shouldn't be that low. I will admit I've never looked at a fire truck that close. The only t-case...

    Rear PTO Leak

I really can't make out what you're showing in the pics. I do know that the thing sticking out the top of the PTO or the tank isn't factory. Here's a pic of a standard deuce t-case PTO. Edit- I don't know why the pic is so small. I had it on my computer from my dump conversion.

    I've searched 12 volts........

I agree. Unless you are going to have some huge 12v loads, a second 12v charging system is just way overkill. I'd consider converting the whole truck over to 12v before I did this if I needed that much 12v power. Two charging systems is just twice as much stuff to deal with IMO. It could take...

    Rear PTO Leak

There is no tank that holds extra fluid for the PTO. The oil in the PTO and the oil in the transfer case IS the same oil. The PTO is lubed by the transfer case oil. No other oil is required for it to operate. It sounds like maybe they had some sort of hyd pump powered with the PTO. According to...

    Rear PTO Leak

If you decide to pull it I will tell you it's not easy to pull it with the bed in place. With the bed removed it's still not a cakewalk. I have done it with the bed in place but the bolts are really hard to get at and most of your wrenching has to be done by feel.

    Rear PTO Leak

The PTO is lubed by the gear oil in the transfer case. I don't think I'd just pour "something I found in a can behind the seat" in it. Where you added the mystery fluid isn't where you add fluid anyway. The oil level is checked and added by a plug on the side of the transfer case. There is a...

    M870 help...

You should be fine pulling it home with the truck you've got. You'll have to add the ramps back though to operate the neck. We use our M870 quite a bit. It will hold a heck of a load. Just make sure you check where the back of the deck connects to the frame that the axles are on. There are...

    Turning radius?

I've never seen a airbag that had the travel a deuce axles has. They are typically relatively short travel. There would be a trade-off as far as axle articulation is concerned. It is a good idea if you can live with it's limitations.

    Post count wrong

I don't know what could have happened. I know a bunch of people's post count went way down when the "bug out" thread got deleted.

    deuce hyd power steering

That's easily solved with the correct box. Tom, I looked into this myself and ran into the same wall you did with a complete bolt on kit, price. The fact is most people post that they would love to have a bolt on power steering kit but when a price is quoted they back up. I do think just the...

    Turning radius?

Carl is right. Add no power steering to the mix and I'd say the deuce practical turning radius will be even more than what's listed when you try to turn in a tight spot going slow.

    Why M939A0 and M939A1?

I recently picked up a M936. I didn't go with a A1 because of a cost standpoint. The truck will be used in my business and the bottom like counts. I sure do like the looks of the big super singles but the fact is they won't last as long on the road and will cost some big bucks to replace when...

Nylon D.O.T Tubing vs. Rubber Hose for Air Line Repair

Most of the lines on your truck will be the nylon tubing. The M939 series trucks use a lot of it.

    M939, no spring (parking) brakes

They have a "star" nut type adjuster on the plungers that contact the shoe. Kind of like an old pickup hyd brake adjuster. TM says you need a tool but it looks like a flat bladed screwdriver would work. Doesn't look real easy to do through a small hole in the backing plate. I wish they had...

    M939, no spring (parking) brakes

The M939 trucks have two chambers per wheel, not just a double chamber. One chamber is a single and is for the service brakes. The other chamber is a double chamber with spring brakes and is for emergency/parking. I think that is where some people are getting confused about the problem I'm...

    M939, no spring (parking) brakes

Shoes appear to be brand new. The service brakes work fine. I guess the pistons could be stuck. It seems if they were to stick from sitting they would be stuck in the "on" position though. Yes, both chambers are used. On the front of the axle there is a maxi (spring) chamber. On the back...

    M939, no spring (parking) brakes

The maxi chambers are indeed there. All I can figure is somebody adjusted them off so they wouldn't work. By looking in the hole where the caging bolt goes the chamber is applied but the brakes aren't. I've fooled with air brake trucks all my life but I've never worked on wedge type before. I...

    Hydraulic vs. pto Winches

Jeff, Where are you getting the winch ratings on the trucks? I just picked up my M936 today and the tag on the rear winch says 45K. Is there another data plate where you are getting these lower figures?

    M939, no spring (parking) brakes

I figured they were like all other brake chambers I've been around. All I've seen you have to insert a bolt into the hole in the back and tighten it to cage the brakes. Are you saying these are different? There is no bolt inserted in the back. I'm trying to find the -34 manual to try and get a...
