yes a mechanical link is needed to be legal 'i think some gm vehicles run rear steering. some trucks and cars but the amount of movement is really limited .the use and electric servo but as far as what any of us would be using rear steer for the only way to go is hydro with a way to lock it out...

lift kits are safe as long as you do it right .get front springs made and have rear springs made .you could have a couple leafs added to the rear wjile you're at it.or you could remake the rear spring brakets with a higher spring pad.blocks are always a bad idea and are illegal on the front
probably not the rad . i bet the thermostat isnt opening all the way had that happen before way to many times .change the thermostat first they are way cheaper than a rad . you could take the t stat out and check for flow in the rad.
