My dually got 450 ft/lbs of torque TODAY. And that's without me doing anything BUT an oil change. AT THE REAR WHEELS. So I'm pretty sure that AT the flywheel she would be putting out 500 ft/lbs at least.
So if I tweaked the injectors (mapped them) and had the heads 'flowed' (old hot rod...
I can't answer the USED part.
But having replaced enough of these I can help on some of it.
First thing is a new starter is going to run about $200. A rebuilt? Call it $150.
Alternator? Again, new is over $150 for the CORRECT isolated ground. I think a rebuild is less than $100.
LMC...
My results are the exact opposite.
I got tired of needing 'soldier B' to do a TON of stuff on the deuce.
I super singled mine and replaced the split rims with six lug budd wheels, which handle commercial 22" tires. So only six tires needed IF you do the super single conversion.
Instead of...
I've always told a the few friends that would listen that purchasing MV equipment is like gambling.
KNOW how much you are willing to spend. ONCE you reach that amount, STOP BIDDING.
The same hold true for a sale. ALWAYS KNOW how much you are willing to sell it for. Put a really HIGH price...
JAsher45,
Thx. Yeah, I've got a 6.2 in the can waiting for it's rebuild. Hopefully this winter. But first I'm going to rebuild my spare TH400 and then my spare NP208.
THEN it's the 6.2L's turn. If I can rebuild it to get 150 at the fly wheel I'll be a VERY happy camper. That should...
I got my EUC cleared on my last M1009 in about three weeks. Then I picked it up. That was the end of June.
I just got my SF-97 in the mail on Monday. So I can FINALLY go register this silly thing.
That was the Ft Sill, Ok auction, right?
Those looked sweet. Hopefully they are in good...
It's funny, my M1009 was showing 10 mph SLOWER than the correct MPH.
My M1028A2 was showing 10 mph FASTER than the correct MPH.
I've had both of my speedo's rebuilt and calibrated and they are literally dead bang on. I've tested it with both GPS, radar (buddy of mine is a cop) and running...
OK, I've now emission tested two of my three CUCV's. The third one will get tested in a couple of weeks. I've got to replace it's exhaust system.
My vehicles ALL run 15/40 Royal Purple and an K&N air filter. And just before emissions testing they get an oil change. Which means I currently...
GREAT START. All yah gotta do is to drill, spot weld, the do a bead around the edges.
Love the pix. THANK YOU FOR THAT. I've got to do the same thing.
The upside is I've literally got an M1009 pan that I'm going to cut good metal out of.
Thanks again. Seeing someone else doing this gives...
Would the landing craft hold an MKT? In the OPEN configuration? Then you could drink, pass out, wake up, eat, drink, pass out....
Repeat until this is no longer any fun. IT COULD TAKE YEARS...
I'll be a Huckleberry if you will...
OK, what is a TH-475? I gotta ask.
I'm all for HD and I'm probably going to start rebuilding my spare TH-400 - the parts are NOT that expensive. And a DVD is available to step you through both the disassembly and reassembly with loads of direct video on exactly what to do. I've got the skill...
Have you removed the INNER NUT? It is held on with a key that is inserted into the inner nut. To GET TO THAT INNER KEY, you have a snap ring that 'hides' the whole shebang.
Having had to replace the rotors on my M1009 recently with the help of a great friend (THX RANDY), we carefully cleaned...
Is that a piece of strap steel the bolts are going through?
If so, that storage rack will NOT pull out.
IF NOT, install one and the bolts won't pull out.
I LOVE THAT LOOK.
It's sweet! And thx for the pix.
They give those here who are looking for more storage a simple and elegant...
Well, I just ran a couple of hours of errands for my wife. Several normal starts and stops.
My tranny is still making a LITTLE noise, but most of the strange sounds went away after I reconnected the electricity to the connector.
Now all I've got to do is go get a new connector and put it in...
Let's not forget our convoy lights gentlemen.
I've been collecting pix and came across one on a GL auction on a truck NEXT to the vehicle in the auction. They mounted the yellow spinning light on a retractable light pole. MOUNTED TO THE ANTENNA BRACKET. Slickest thing I've ever seen.
Take...
Well, with a little persuasion from a pair of vice grips and a flat bladed screwdriver, the cover finally came off.
The reason I was attempting to get this off was my tranny was making strange noises that started about three weeks ago. I have not driven it much since them, trying to figure out...
I have not done so yet. But on other civy trucks, yes. I like to have the filler neck come out at the rear wheel well. It is hidden from view, which means no sheet metal work to fill the tank. There is a standard passenger side fuel tank that is available. Don't forget the skid plate.
You...
OK, I can NOT get this sucker loose. Does it have some kind of lip or something else that must be lifted up?
I've been under my truck twice now and even with a large pair of channel lock pliers I cannot get it off the connector itself.
So, any suggestions?
I'm about to take a razor to it, at...
OK, my tranny in my older M1009 is starting to make sounds. So I crawled up underneath to take a look see.
Looks like she has leaked tranny fluid at some time in the past. A LOT of blow back that could be oil or tranny fluid (mixed with dirt). But one of the things that jumped out at me is...
