After sitting all night it started right up. The part I don't like is it starts like I have it floor boarded then settles down to a fast idle. I don't touck the throttle. So do you think that points to a temp sensor? At least for the not starting issue? Thanks,Greg
I wondered if it could be a fuel problem so before I tried to start it this morning I opened the air bleedoff on top of the fuel filter. I thought I'd just bump the starter to see if there was any air in there and then check if it got wet with fuel. Wouldn't you know it, it started on the first...
My hearing isn't so good anymore maybe I'll replace the relay and hope thats it. It wasn't started for 2 weeks and wouldn't start. Let it sit a few days fully expecting it not to start this morning but it fired on the first revolution. 5 hours later, won't start. I did put in group 31 batterys...
I bought the M1009 as a parts vehicle as it was supposed to have a bad engine & trans. I put in a new starter and glow plugs and batterys and it started up nicely. The next time it acted like the glow plugs weren't working, it would't start. Tried it this morning and it started as soon as the...
You have a nice looking M62. Looks much better than mine. I have a 1953 also but painted an ugly yellow. Anybody know how many M62's were built? Seems like quite a few showing up. Every time I'm underneath mine I'm just amazed at how well its built.
I have removed the snap ring at the outer edge on the splined axle that looks as tho it should have held the inner gear but it still won't move. Its hard to believe I'm missing something. So your saying there are 2 snap rings? I have removed one, but can't see another. Thanks
I haven't had this apart before so I'm unsure of the process. I removed the lockout off the end of the spindle, and the clip off the end of the axle. The spring and the center gear of the lockout came out when I took out the keeper screw. I think that would release the gear off the axle and let...
My axle seal leaks and there is alot of slop in the lower joint. I also want to repack the wheel bearings but I can't get the spindle off. The manual says it may be necessary to tap the spindle but thats not working. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
I was intending to drive the truck home but...
It has about 1" of pedal before it hits the floor and doesn't change with pumping. I checked the master cylinder and it was full. Air pressure was good. Do you think air in the lines is the problem or something more serious? The truck has been...
I was intending to drive this truck home but...
The engine started ran a few minutes and died. I think it ran out of fuel. It wouldn't restart. Do I crack a line at each injector to bleed out air? How much engine cranking is required? Is the process the same with the deuce multi-fuel also? Thanks
Ok I think I got it. I'll do as I originally thought with the driveline. Tie it up. I have had a lockout hub engage itself once and thought that might have been a concern. For that reason neutral on both won't hurt. Thanks for the tape hint too, I hadn't thought about that problem either. Greg
I didn't think about the steering column. Thanks for that tip. I do have 1" pins for the adapters, its just that they can be mounted 2 ways, it doesn't appear to matter. These adapters have 2 mounting holes a 1" and a 3/4" to attach to the vehicle since I'm using the 1" the 3/4 hole will be...
I need to tow a CUCV about 500 miles with a 5 ton. I've got a tow bar but this is the 1st time I'll be using it. It doesn't appear to make a difference whether the adapters have the 3/4 hole up or down. Is there? I thought I would remove the rear driveline at the axle and tie it up. Front hubs...
Thanks General for the heads up with that pulley. I've got to figure out how to hold the back side of the pulley from turning. The back side of the pulley is up against the pump so that only a very narrow wrench will fit in there.
I managed to get the nut and the 2 clamp bolts off the pulley but what is next? Took the old belt off also but its still rock solid together. How does it separate? Thanks
I need to replace the belt on the air compresser. Looks like it takes a big wrench to separate the pulley. Is this correct? Where is the best place to get this tool? I checked the Saturn site and nothing is listed.
I drove the duece 200+ miles yesterday where the belt turned itself over on the...
The pump was out for some time in my truck but it ran fine without it. I bypassed the compensator because I was getting fuel in the crankcase and changed the primary fuel filter so the system has lost its prime. I haven't tried to start the engine but I expect it will now need the fuel pump...
