New type of Allison in deuce

i say go for it. what Stak 'case are you going to use? don't they have one w/ an OD hi-range? [edit: guess not, don't see it on their site.] which ratio stak 'case do you have, though?

    This is what I did.

New type of Allison in deuce

if it's an SAE pattern tranny, you won't need to pay Destroked for the adapter - Cummins SAE engine adapters are available. but when you say 'RDS 2500', you mean out of a Cheby? then, yes, you will need an adapter from Destroked as Unforgiven has posted. and a Stak 'case in lieu of the...

    Replacement winch cable

the deuce has a small band brake that 'supposedly' holds the load and powering out would go against this brake, just as an electric winch would heat up. i thought about heat tolerance (or lack, thereof) as a con to list, but wasn't sure if the heat build-up on the deuce winch would or could...

    Replacement winch cable

this is what you got from my post? wow. No problem. I appologize if you feel that I have directly offended you; the loose quotation in my post was in response to multiple postings in this thread by different folks and is never intended any more than a 'shoe-fits' kinda thing. The point is...

New type of Allison in deuce

it's an SAE bolt pattern. you'll have to measure the bolt circle to determine if it's a 2 or 3. standard SAE flexplates should fit or be made to fit w/ some standard machining. that trans is massive compared to the spicer - the transfer will have to be moved back probably almost a foot...

    Replacement winch cable

:ditto:x2 i really don't understand why everyone is touting "is your life worth it to use a inferior or used wire rope?" hey, hotshot(s) - what the crap are you doing near the cable while it's under tension, anyway? a new, good quality cable doesn't give you reason to be near it while under...

WTB Turbo to Exhaust Manifold Gasket?

should be a standard T4 flange gasket?

    Replacement winch cable

interesting. my thoughts: Cons: $$$ expensive $$$ (as much as $500 - $900+ for 200') frays easily will need a smooth fairlead to avoid to the previous hard to clean once dirty (oils, grease, etc.) weakened by prolonged UV and chemical/oil exposure have a limited lifespan even if taken care...

    Gear Splitter

ah, yes. the 3-4 ratio isn't quite as bad as the spicer, but it is similar. anymore, however, i don't notice it at all because of the 4k gsk - i just shift whenever i want, not when i run out of fuel(ing). so, under normal driving, you never really hit the 'ceiling' and then have to come back...

wait wait wait.... you do mean nv4500 and nv5600, right? because the nv3500 was used in dodge dakotas and jeeps - no, it will not survive behind a cummins. i wouldn't even put one behind a 4bt putting out more than stock torque. however, i do agree that the '4500 is a great choice for the...

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

that sounds like that's going to be a ton of fun!! i, for one, look forward to the results.

well, my multifuel is no-load governed to 2600 rpm and begins de-fueling at 2500. the 6bt i have is no-load governed to 4000 rpm and begins defueling at about 3800 rpm. so, a 6bt will get you as much speed as you want and more than you need. and, before it's asked, yes you can run a 6bt...

    wheel chocks

it baffles me why everyone chocks a rear wheel - the rears hold less weight than the front, and w/ the bogy style suspension, it only takes half the force to overcome a chock. in my [former] motorpool and also Ft. Stewart's standard policy, the front tires are what gets chocked because these...

    My version of rear exhaust

i like it. i think you'd be fine if you rotated the outlet down towards the ground. as requested previously, how about some more photos of the routing up front, please? i'm interested in possibly doing something just like this to get the J-pipe out of the fender for more tire clearance.

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

no, actually you don't. there is an accumulator in almost all hydro-boost systems to give full braking power if pressure is lost. hydro-max incorporates a seperate electric pump. also, it's a manual transmission - if you're rolling, then the engine is turning and the pump is making pressure.

it warmed up so i went out and got my truck started. measured on the concrete my front tire is about 52.5" tall, so the effective loaded radius is right about 26" dead nutz. so, again, i use 52" as tire D. i got 6" lift springs on my truck. however, i wish i would have gone w/ 8" springs -...
