from what i've read on here, the deuce winch can be reassembled with the drive input on the front or rear, left or right side; it simply depends on the arrangement that it is put back together. so if the 5T winch is of similar design, then it shouldn't be an issue.
IF the 5T winch is of...
sounds like a lack of fuel. first thing i'd check is fuel filters. next, i'd check to make sure the lift pump is working. after that, cracked fuel lines.
yeah, he did a top-notch job.
PSC sells their kit w/ or w/o the pump, but also includes hose, fittings, resevoir, brakets, etc - i recommend the 'kit' either way. and with a bolt-on pump, the only thing you'll have to fab is the valve-column junction and the ram mounting. caveman' did...
my trans is usually quite unwilling to go into 2nd sitting still or rolling.
also, it is completely irrational to say that starting in second puts more torque on the input or mainshaft, because in fact, 1st puts the most torque through the trans - period.
however, if starting in second...
yes, Steve and I have spoken many times, and we both agree that his current brake kits are too small for GVW over 8k# when big tires are in the mix. mainly, the fronts are way too small. however, on my bobber, the rear kit will likely work quite well.
he's working on something bigger and...
this is both very confusing and mostly incorrect. the only correct concept in this post is that the waste gate limits the turbo output. however, that is not the reason for a waste gate.
a waste gate is added to a turbo for these 3 reasons:
to limit turbo speed at high engine rpms and...
sounds like fun. though, in my opinion, a 5T is just about literally twice the truck as the deuce. so, a 6CTA might be an upgrade for the deuce, i think you'll be wanting some big cubes for 'upgrading' a 5T.
i'm thinking 14L Cummins, 3406, 8v92TTA, DD60 series... you know, big power-makers.
none of the bolt-on kits are heavy-duty enough; trust me, i'm looking. one company should have a heavier kit in the next month. i have the part numbers for DIY, but not the time or equipment for the bracket fabrication and part machining required.
no worries. you going to do a write-up on...
all of the CTIS systems i've experienced (-A3's, 5T-A2's, FMTVs, etc), if there is a leak, it is contained to the leaking wheel only. most leaks are slow, so as soon as the vehicle is started the system will refill the low tire(s).
and the CTIS on the FMTV is quite quick at response time...
i understand. looks like very cool stuff. are you going for 5T kits or planning on any 2.5T stuff - i am in the market for 2.5T disc kits.
nonetheless, really good looking work.
well, the way i see it is the driveline will only see as much torque as there is load. meaning, sending 1000ft-lbs down the driveline in an empty 13k# truck is a whole-lot more forgiving than a truck at 23k#. when the load or other force binds the driveline (heavy load on pavement, extreme...
