Is it bad on injector pump to run with no lift pump operating? I have an electric pump on mine and have it keyed to on but also have a manual switch I turn off when I glow it.Sometimes I forget to turn lift pump back on.It runs fine without it.But wonder if Im overworking IP.
Welcome aboard,I also have a 1009 and its my daily driver.Do the LMC headlight mod.Its really easy.I have the 31 gallon tank upgrade on my to do list, looks like a nice start to a great truck.
Too funny,My favorites are passing people on the interstate when they are doing 70,I cant tell from the looks on their faces if they are scared or amazed?
Im not sure, and Im really not interested in a 500hp 1009,Im perfectly happy with the performance of my stock 6.2.I just thought it was an interesting read.I liked the articles about comp.testing and the cheap test for testing the cdr vale and blowby test.I had to edit. I would like to turbo my...
Ya,you really have to dig a bit,They built a 500hp 6.5 using mostly 6.2 parts.I think I found interesting stuff under news.and tech. articles They do sell a cam for6.2 N/A motors 20hp and 60 ft.lbs. torque.
Tonight switched out vacuum pump, mine is a 1009,replaced with a a used one from a 1008,the gear on my original was tapered much more than the one I replaced it with, but seems all is good.I still have oil pressure, will throw vac. gauge on tomorrow to check....Also tried to change cdr valve,is...
Exactly as Marcus said, our 6.2s are the turtle in the turtle /hare race ,slow and steady. If you want to read up on some interesting upgrades check out Heath Diesel, interesting stuff there.
Going electric would have been much easier and less aggravating, and easy to run all new rubber fuel line eliminating a chance of sucking air from nearly 30 year old hard lines.
Thanks Tim,my terminals are brass not lead and are 360 degree compression fittings,a bit pricey but Im tired of hard starts in -0 conditions. They have 3 inputs outputs at 1/0 power cable.
Just ordered a kent moore J-26999-30 adapter for compression test on 6.2,any input on a comp. gauge that's compatible with this adaptor,if it tests good going turbo.
Same tire and size I put on my 1009 30K miles ago, still love them and have done great in snow. And they are about to release a new version of this tire that looks really nice and rugged. Another nice thing was after adding 33s my speedometer also matches my GPS!
Good thread, got me thinking about batt. cable size,I have been thinking glowplugs seem like they are not getting enough juice for a long time.Took a close look at my cables today and my front pos. to rear neg. is only 4 gauge, not good! Im waiting on some fusible links and connectors then all my...
the only CUCV specific tool I have is a OTC 5060 Detroit Diesel injector socket which I used today, made in USA,I had to use a hammer to pound in a 3/8 drive ext. to get a rachet to fit on socket, after that deburring all went well.I kind of expected a better socket since it cost 52.$If anyone...
Today installed new injectors and changed trans.filter and fluid.Actually wasn't as hard changing injectors as I thought it would be.Also did new return lines.Oh yeah before I forget when you get to rear most injector on drivers side chock your tires and put trans. in 1,this will get shift...
Drove mine home from work today and forgot to turn elect.lift pump back on(I turn it off when I manually glow cold motor),10 miles at 65-70 MPH,Another 5miles at 50-55MPH,ran fine. ???
