Picked up 804a and 802a today and looking for advise.

If your machine has the quad fuse modification mounted on the left side of the VR you can just pull the fuse out. If you don't have the fuse mod. you can remove the wire from #8 ( left most ) screw on the VR. Note: if you don't have the fuse you should add it before electrically testing the...

MEP802A Rollin Coal - Needs Stator

Forget trying to have it repaired, probably cheaper to buy a spare generator! I have a used stator I could sell you. Looks like you have insufficient posts to be able to send a private message yet, so speak up if interested and I will contact you. Before you buy anything you should pull it apart...

    Mep 003a fuel pump connectors

As a price reference point, a custom made hydraulic hose with the 5/16 JIC ends you need would be $19 each. ( $10 assembly fee and $9 for the fittings and hose ) The hose is cheap, $1.68 per foot, fittings are $3.49 so the length of the hose makes very little difference in cost, it's the...

Yes, -AN fittings from Summit are a definite option, but I have used them on race cars before and it is really difficult, time consuming and expensive to use. Each pre-made hydraulic hose assembly will cost less than just 1 reusable -AN fitting. There are also several old threads on here where...

    Mep 003a fuel pump connectors

I've always preferred to just have new hoses made. Easiest place is www.discounthydraulichose.com go on, design your own hose and they are on your door step 2-3 days later. You want AN-5 or 5/16 JIC female swivel ends. 1/4" or 5/16" hose, which ever uses cheaper fittings, and make your hoses a...

    MEP-802A Starter problem?

With regards to the fuel rail again, moving it from the throttle and / or fuel shut off lever won't tell you much of anything because the levers attach to the rack via springs, so they will always move, regardless of if the rack itself is moving. With lots of experience you can "Feel" the slight...

    MEP-802A Starter problem?

Ok, sounds like a potential fuel rail / stuck Metering pump pin issue as far as no fuel out of the metering pumps However it sounds like you still have some kind of DC voltage issue going on if you fuel stop solenoid is bouncing around. CallMeColt just posted a fantastic video the other day...

    MEP-802A Starter problem?

No Gel delivery and your fuel shut off solenoid is pulsing....?? Gotta love speech to Text! So is the shut off solenoid pulling back and holding steady when cranking or are you seeing an issue with it bouncing ( pulsing ) back and forth? Hard to tell what you said Vs. what your phone thinks you...

    802 relay assist

So are you saying the Temp and fuel gages work and only oil and hour meter are dead?? Power and ground for all the gages comes from the same daisy chain so I would suspect ALL gages would be dead. For the moment I would begin by checking 24V power at the gages ( and hour meter ) and if none...

    MEP-804A Diode Ring Destroyed

Evvy, is the front of the generator housing totally solid or does it have air openings in it? If I recall from your original post, you bought this set from a private owner, not the govt. auction? Normally when I get a new machine, first thing I do is steam clean everything to get off all the...

    Mep 003a fuel pump connectors

You have lots of options here. You Do NOT need to run 2 redundant pumps, one is perfectly fine, just have a backup plan if that pump craps out when you need it most. You can remove the solenoid and put the Aux pump in line with the other good pump you have. Or just use the aftermarket...

MEP802A not starting . Notice anything major in video

If the above shows no 24v at CB1 or S1, check CR-1 diode, rear left corner inside control cube 2nd up from the bottom soldered onto the burden resistor panel. If that diode is open you will have no 24V DC anywhere within the control panel.

Picked up 804a and 802a today and looking for advise.

Like Farmitall said, do a complete inspection of the engine before you buy anything. Often times there's a good reason why so many parts have been "Borrowed" from it. Either way, anything can be fixed but a seized engine can throw a curve into your plans. Then just do the bare minimum to get it...

MEP802A not starting . Notice anything major in video

You're 100% correct. I've tried explaining it 1/2 dozen times and it is difficult to put into text.... and probably even more difficult for people to understand. Picture = 1000 words, Video = Priceless! Good job Colt.

What's in there that you want to sand off, just varnish? If so you're probably better off with a round "Pipe cleaner" style wire or nylon brush and more carb cleaner. Fine sandpaper or emery cloth wrapped around a dowel or anything round ( like a pencil ) will work as well, just don't get too...

    Mep 003a fuel pump connectors

Soak it from both sides as Rick mentioned. I use Berryman's B12 carb cleaner, it's about the most toxic ( best ) stuff you can find! After a good soaking try tapping the pump body on a piece of wood to dislodge the plunger. The pump body will hit the wood first, not the center tube, so no fear...

    Main power indicator

After a power outage, when power is restored I rely on my neighbors lights as my indicator.... I sit inside, watching TV, drinking a cold beer, cooking, doing laundry ( ok, my wife does that stuff ) , going on with life as normal... occasionally looking out at the neighbors' dark houses...
