with a std. rebuild they should be measuring the output so there shouldnt be any extra charge to up the fuel. I called my local shop yesterday and they dont charge any extra to turn up the pump. Cost is $430 for a rebuilt no matter what you want them to set the fuel screw at.
here are the instructions for turning up the pump.

and wolf the 6.2L is nowhere near as tolerant of high EGT's as the 6.5L is, MAX EGT pre-turbo on a 6.2 is 1,100 degrees F. Anymore and you will melt the piston...
RE: Re: RE: Injector pump rebuilt update
doesnt matter what side, both will be the same. put it as close to the cast manifold as you can, and be sure to center the tip of the thermocouple in the pipe.
RE: Re: RE: New Guy, New Truck, Old Question...
if the engine is not cranking, then its the silver relay.
go to the parts store and get a AC40 relay. (or the brand equiv. that they carry)
ok, you get a click sound when trying to crank? or when turning the key to run (you should hear the click when turning it to run, this is the Glow Plug relay)?
the Glow Plug relay is on the firewall, just next to the brake booster. If the engine is cranking but doesnt start, then odds are you...
I have the complete directions, I will post them when i get home. I do suggest that you get a EGT gauge (pyrometer) without it you can melt your pistons.
for putting in that engine, you'd want to go with a hydro clutch setup, i dont think there would be room for the linkage of the stock setup.
but the stampings are all there, and iirc the holes are as well.
as long as you purge the system (do a complete flush with the new fluid.) you should be fine.
As gimpy noted above, I accidently put some dot 3 into my CUCV and had some horrible goo develop in the master cylinder. It took 2qts of dot 5 to get it all flushed out of the lines.
you need to look for the turbo off a 6.5L diesel. you will have to modify the exhaust piping to make it fit.
or you can find the early-style Banks Turbo kit for the 6.2. That will bolt on with no modifications.
I have pics of my install in the album linked in my sig.
I wanna know how they justify that much for turning up the pump.
If you dont have a turbo 1/4 turn is too much. start with a 1/8 turn above stock.
also either way you should have a EGT (pyrometer) gauage installed before messing with the fuel setting.
some just replace the filter assembly with a newer style WIX twist-on filter and base. you can also pull the base off the firewall and get a new pressure switch.
gen1 is the 12volt alternator and is on the drivers side of the engine.
gen2 is ran in series with the positive pole on gen1 connected to its ground lug, and makes 12volts (combined 24 volts) and is on the passengers side of the engine
