I own my bottles and the two welding supply places around here exchange my bottles when I need gas. So unless you go years without refilling a bottle, you want have to do a hydro test. I guess a lot depends on how your local welding supply handles exchanges with customer owned bottles.
It's really hard to work on old rusty MVs without a torch. It will pay for itself in short order. Although there are much better options out there, you can weld with a torch also if that's all you've got.
Most the other post say rent bottles. I've found it cheaper in the long run if I own my...
Does the crane have a hyd rotator coupling? If not you'll wind your hyd hoses up by rotating it past 360. I'm thinking it doesn't have a rotator coupling, hence the need for the stops.
If it doesn't have a rotator coupling I'd suggest putting the stops back in. If you don't you'll more than...
How did you get 12v to the pyro? I used a voltage reducer when I installed my Autometer pyro in my deuce ( http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/46674-autometer-pyro.html?highlight=pyro ). For the lights I just wired the light for the pyro and boost in series.
True. If it just failed I'd just count it either bad luck or it was just worn out. When you have flames coming out from under the dash while your driving your truck is a different story. I'm not worried about installing another one and it failing. I'm worried about it burning the truck down. I...
I'm looking at picking up a 900 series to put a lime/fertilizer spreader bed on it. I will have to have some sort of PTO on it to run the spreader bed. Do the 900 series have a trans PTO capability or are you stuck with a t-case PTO?
It is possible to mount a hyd pump on the standard deuce PTO. I've done it- http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/60514-my-latest-dump-project.html#post714471
That's about the easiest way IMO.
If you don't get enough "deuce disassembly" this weekend you can come on down to TN the next and work on my tanker. ;-)
I've already pulled front and one rear axle. Got to pull the fenders, hood, and hardtop for a member this weekend. Oh, I almost forgot, somebody also wants me to pull the IP...
Which 5-tons had a shiftable t-case PTO? I know the 5-ton wreckers have a t-case PTO but they run all the time the trans is in gear and the clutch is out.
I'm not real crazy about this method. Sure, we all get desperate at times and do it anyway but it's dangerous whatever strap you use. Wasn't there a recent post of somebody getting killed doing this? My thinking is that if you use one of those stretching recovery straps and the attachment point...
I'd probably just use cable clamps to make eye's on my "extensions". You could get all fancy with a Esomet type fitting (same as on the winch cable end) but the clamps will hold just as well, cheaper, and easier to assemble. You can forget the swaged type fitting unless you get them made up by...
:ditto:
My '98 Cummins isn't water cooled.
You'll have more air leaks in cold weather than you will in the summer. The o-rings in valves and such will get stiff in cold weather and leak but will seal off when the weather gets warmer. I've got a 1994 FL that will hold air overnight in the...
All of your rims have a split ring on one side. Seeing as how you're not too knowledgeable in this area, it's best to have the tire shop fix it. These things can kill you if you don't know what you're doing.
