Former wheeled MV's are treated the same as any other motor vehicle. While it may be nice to get some specific MV registration standards, it would likely be a slipery slope that I don't want to go down.
I have put some thought into this as a member of the Great Lakes...
This on the A3 wheels?
Are the A3's lighter than the A2's? (trucks)
GL has the M35A3 w/o winch listed @ 13,900 and the w/winch @ 14,600
as my M36A2 w/winch is tagged at 15,750 lbs add the 10,000 highway load and the listed limits of the wheel are exceeded.
as the M35A3 is heavier than the A2...
the pdf posted above clearly shows what an A3 rim is and leaves no room for question.
The pic posted by the OP shows what looks like a std deuce rim, yet since it doesn't show the whole rim, it's hard to say.
here is the link to the pic in the classifieds, that I had suggested you search for...
There are pics in the classified section of this site of both the A3 wheels and the narrower Canadian deuce wheels, there are also comparison pics in the Deuce or Deuce modifiction forums, have to do a search to bring them up.
To answer the sprague to air shift swap ?, it is just the transfer case.
No axle change. No transmission change.
The original registration # will reveal if it was Army, AirForce or Marines and the year.
Although data tags can be switched.
As far as "factory original" for a US military vehicle...
Check ebay for a $45 BUY IT NOW drag link with free delivery from Ca.
I have the skid plate cross members $20
Yet no skid plate to spare, sorry.
Fuel tank vent hose clogged, mud wasps love those things.
beware of ebayer from Whitehall, PA (user ID constantly changes)
Worse! He scrapped it. I got the rear axle though.
It was given to him and he thought he could sell the motor for $1000 plus.
So he cut it in half to get it on his little trailer.
Well sorta anyway,
Found an ad for 42 willys jeep parts.
looks like GPW24333 with a GPW34176 engine (block) It has a T90A tranny on it, & the transfer case needs some investigating, 2 combat wheels and maybe 1 early wheel. Have to get it out of the M101A2 to further check the one wheel out...
One of the trucks I got last year had an oily residues dripping from odd places.
Didn't know what to think..........................
Then one of the National Guard guys told me they sprayed the crap out the trucks with wasp spray and that is what was dripping....:cookoo:
There are Expansible van bodies and water purification trucks that already have something like a slide out.
the 5 ton expansible is the M820, there is a long wheel base deuce (M36 chassis) with the same or simular box on it, although the M# is escaping me...
WOW! 8,000
per the data tag a M886 is 6100lb
M880 (IIRC) is in the 4800lb area
My W400 Ambulance data tag shows 7366lb
My M116A2 frame tag on my M101A2 shows 2100 or 2300lb on road cargo cap.
I suspect the welder / generator in that M887 is pretty heavy.
edit:
from data tags
M880 curb wt...
The vin is stamped on frame rail above left front axle.
1. find that #
2. purchase a blank data plate and have it engraved with that #
3. get a LEO to verify frame #
4. get your title legally
falsifying paperwork to get a title is a felony in most if not all states.
They need to rethink the carbon fiber front clip, man! bump a fender on a treeaua
That being said, If I had $40k or so to throw around I'd buy one.
( only about $39.5k away from that mark now )
