Ive got some taken apart out in the shelter. I'll get some pics.
Edit: here's what I found. I'm not sure how I got them out. They are still a push and twist type socket but there is no room to twist them. If you have a skinny phillips screw driver (#1 perhaps) you can slide by the LED board...
Are the BO LED's little red rectangles? Those will come out of the housing just like the bulbs. Infact the backside of the LED board is attached to a regular bulb socket. Do the lens housings look the same on both curbside and roadside housings? I mean if you looked at them from the rear with...
Pic #1. Steel or Alum.? How tall when set at the proper angle? How much.
Pic #8 Do they have just the chains? I found 2 clamps in a local salvage yard but missing the chains. (dual roller)
HMMWV are considered 5/4 ton trucks so yes, 2500lbs is correct. I'm not a HMMWV guy but I think there are some heavier rated trucks (shelter carriers) but I dont think they are rated that much more.
Ridgerunner Makes lifts and for some reason Black rock fab jumps to mind but I may be wrong on the black rock stuff.

Edit: yep Blackrock makes a kit too...
How wide is the spare tire rack? Is the a2 rack wider than the a1 version? I'm just guessing that its wider since the a2's have 14's and the earlier versions are running on 11's.
I'm hoping to go to 14's on my 818 and have access to an early version of the spare rack with the davit crane but...
Nope, the 5tons mount in the bed.
Edit: and apparently under the frame, but not with a winch mount but in a basket. Ive never seen the basket type just the bed mount.
All that you have heard is true. It will start on 2 in warm weather. 4 is better. I ran 2 in my M818 and it will kill the batteries pretty quikly if it does not fire right away. I'm going back to 4 when I put it back on the road in the spring.
I could see them being used to hold straps that hold the cardboard material packed under the truck for air drop purposes but not for strapping the truck down to a pallet for transport. Theres no way they would hold. If you've ever seen a Mil. Veh. loaded in an aircraft you'd understand why they...
The muffler is there I just want to get the sound behind the cab when going down the road. Besides I like fiddling with things.
I doubt I'll ever drive the truck far enough to worry about losing some range. It's nice to get out and stretch your legs every few hours and it gives people a...
Get an old hatchet and a BFH. You did get the rivets that go through the bottom flange of the frame aswell right?
Edit: that first pic looks bad. I wasn't trying to cut the rivet with the hatchet, Just getting it started to pry the plate away from the frame. Once you get it started you can...
Got the second tank removed and installed the tool box. Looks like it was made to fit there.:-) It Might be a little tight with 14's on it though. I plan on getting a davit crane and spare tire holder off of a 900-a2 (should be wide enough for a 14.00 spare) and I'll probably lose the walk plate...
Bad news. The owner said they cleaned out the parts loft and threw out a bunch of stuff. He doesn't think they have those ptos anymore. The yard was busy and he didnt seem real interested in getting off his piece of equipment to go look for something that may not be there so I didnt push to see...
Or just wait till the auction is over to start asking questions. Then you can post all the pics and info you want.
Now if I were looking for 5ton wheels I know just what to put in the search line when on the auction site.
