My son was supposed to go help me today, we had everything loaded into the pickup. The plan was to go to Riley, check out Jason and Jeremy's 5 tons, hook one up behind the other and go home.
My son came home grumpy last night, was up all night, so I grabbed the tow bar, threw it in the 68 and...
Talked to the local tattoo guy/mural painter about doing some "nose art"... turned on the water valves so the heater might work, replaced inner and outer rear axle seals on the 71, flange gaskets and repacked the bearings with Mobil 1 bearing grease, adjusted the air pressure, put on a new left...
Along the same lines, do not put your dog on a short leash and let him follow you out the driver's door. Sir did a really nasty looking forward flip hanging exit. Did not slow him down any or his desire to go. What are the odds that hand loop would catch the park brake handle?
Hey Jay, that thing has been calling my name since Pete bought it. Right now were have five trucks to steal or swap parts from. I think we have enough to make it very solid. The box is surprisingly good, the hardwood flooring is beautiful. I still have the Dodge to finish and I have some plans...
They are in the box, the tires were ruined, large rotted holes. When we pulled it off the lot, they we're chunking out bad. This is a very unusual five ton. I HOPE they save it..I never saw another and can only find a photo of one. Glen
My 72 would not get there without a radiator cover below 20 degrees. My 68 sounds like your truck. My 71 must need a new thermostat, it never gets warm when it is cold out.
Nothing should break on the front axle only driving. If it does you had a weak link. John, I think the drive difference you are thinking of involved when the spray locked into six wheel drive. Besides the wider track the front tires swing in a curve, most of our trucks s eat front tires. The...
I have one that is constantly searching for a steady rpm. As long as it is pulling, it runs smooth. When you let it idle or try t level off at an rpm, it wants to hunt. I think the governor is sticking. I added some Marvel Mystery Oil to the crankcase and it is much better. What it really needs...
I did not think about that part! I drove a 58 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 most of one winter on front wheel drive. Broke the rear differential, pulled the axles, the rear drive shaft and ran it until the warmer weather arrived.
