Just finished GP resistor bypass went well, replaced my autolite 1112s with 60gs this time, happy no plugs swelled after cascade failure.Tommorow trans. flush and new injectors.
Mine did something like this.Discovered the rubber fuel line feeding mech. lift pump had a tight bend, and as it aged it started to close itself off.I have since gone electric and much better.
Something easy to check is the rubber fuel line going to mech. lift pump, mine was bent to tight and as time went by it weakened and started to kink more and more.Caused me all kinds of problems.
If you are a member here and own a CUCV and have not done DogHead relay mod.and starter runs away,it didn't break. You broke it. I learned the hard way!
My 1009 is my only vehicle running right now, just turned 90k on odometer.was driving 80 miles round trip to work and back, but now 24 miles aday, thanks to a car pool. once you figure them out they are very dependable, I can tell you without this site I would have given up long ago,I had every bad...
Just turned 90k,changed oil, filter, diff. fluids, rear u-joints.I wondered how long my 1009 would run with electric lift pump turned off,It ran and ran,I even revved it up and it still ran great.Im thinking my IP is in pretty good condition.
Duel fuel pressure gauge easy, can be done with mech.pump,Do spin on fuel filter mod,use housing with 2 intake and 2 outlet ports.1 gauge in each extra port.
Im very electrically challenged,so will probably stick with fusable links..My 1009 is still dual alt.24/12 volt.Im going to run 12v right to gp solenoid to eliminate 24v/12v resistor and cascade failure of glowplugs.
Bad lift pump, mine did this, discovered rubber fuel line bent way to tight,as it got older it closed up more and more. Now I have elect.pump and spin on filters with pressure gauges on input and output side. Its something to look into.
Getting ready to replace/ upgrade batt.cables and power feed to 12volt power port and glowplug solenoid. Will also be bypassing 24/12 resistor.I have optima redtops,Ruffstuff batt box.gonna run 1/0 gauge batt.and starter cables and would like to run 4 ga.over to 12v pwr.port and GP solenoid.Would...
