my man, you have NO IDEA how powerful some of the IEDs are. you also have no understanding of the armor systems currently being used.
the bolt-on kit, made by Raytheon, was a quick-response action to get vehicles armored as fast as possible. and IT WORKS. it works very well. it was utilized...
YES - you CAN flip the hubs on the front. i have two front axles that i have done this too.
NO - you CANNOT retain the front brakes. you will have to go w/ a pinion disc brake. i don't believe that there will even be room to get discs on a flipped front, i could be wrong about that...
So this means that you have a one-piece wheel (as opposed to two-piece) without a beadlock, yes? So tires have to be put on by a tire machine?? That's a big tire machine, no? Or can a truck tire shop do it?
'Santa,
What wheels are those? they look like split-rings, yes? do they have the beadlock ring in them, and if so, did you have to mod them to fit that rubber?
i ask 'cause i'm still looking for wheels for my 395s.......
originally, i planned to acquire some A3 wheels for my 395s. when that proved impossible, my only other option (so i thought) was some wheels from www.stazworks.com. this guy used to be tied into USA 6x6 but they had some falling out (or so the story goes). anyway, he seems to have better...
they'll never be on GL. they'll just recycle them with the contract they have w/ exide. i had a battery shop in my unit. it used to be the only battery shop in the southeast (when at Ft. Stewart) but it is no more. they don't rebuild them anymore. "it's much easier to buy the new...
more so than the lug pattern, i would wonder more about the backspacing on those wheels. it may be too much for a 5 ton?? it has so much backspacing because of the FMTVs planetary hubs.
Kenny -
yep, it has a similar crane. it's quite a bit beefier, tho. max load is 16,700#. i think max at reach is 6k @ 18'. it's got great reach. 8) before you get any ideas about putting one on your truck - it's HEAVY. it'll make the HEMMT lean if you stick it over the side w/o the...
here's a couple pics of the wrecker i occassionally "borrowed" for recreational use in Iraq. sorry, i don't have any good single shots of it, but the M984 is an amazing vehicle.
no, that wasn't my suburban. just helping out a friend in need.
M984 trivia: designed with the...
in all actuallity, the convoy commander has the last say in the convoy's interval and spacing. many times a large spacing is not feasible depending on traffic or other situations when conducting a closed interval convoy.
so the convoy commander assesses and makes the call, BUT is directly...
that's a sling for pulling power packs from a track vehicle. we didn't do much work on tracks, but from the looks of it, i think it's too big for a 113, and i doubt it's for an m1 or 88. i'd put a dollar on AVLB or m9 ACE. just a guess :)
we call that a Bat Mobile (because of how the "wings" fold out). it actually is a mobile machine shop. i've only seen a few still on the 5 ton chassis on active duty. all others have been put on a 12 ton trailer chassis.
ours had a 30kw generator, 27" lathe, versa mill, 2 drill presses...
it would be on the bumper. i'll give you an example: my HMMWV was M10, and i was in the 632nd Maint Co. on the left side of the bumper were the parent units and on the right was the unit and number, kinda like this:
