My cable kept freezing up in the winter (water in it) after I fiirst got the truck. The fuel tank (1,200 gallon one) was off so it was easy to work on. I took it out worked it clean, relubed it and it has worked great...
This fuel leak has been developing over a long time, it isn't a big leak, just enough for the biodiesel to eat away the paint as it drips down the side of the IP.
Question: is there a gasket of some sort involved or is it an inverted flare type connection at this point.

The trailer connector is mounted on a plate extending below the frame on the M49 tanker too (my cranetruck now). I never had a problem with it, cutting a hole in the frame cross member for it could be a task. :-)
Guess next question is, what is the design load of the bearings?
You are right on with the increase in track width, it's about 3-3/4 total for the singles config. The 1100's are wider too, so that also comes into play, especially when aired down.
That's been one of my back burner project for years. One problem is space, if the original fan is replaced, the space between the hub and the radiator is only like 2 inches in the center.
