Yes, I plan to leave before the end of July, probably around the 28th of July.
Got lots of biodiesel to prepare plus a few other things like Joel's locust lumber, which should be ready for him next week.
Worked in the emergency room in the hospital at Ft Sill, OK a very long time ago (medic OJT) and we had a man come in who had jumped off a deuce and got his wedding band caught on the door handle, you know how pointed it is. We weren't permitted to work on those kind of injuries (hands and face)...
Congrats Steve, gutsy performance and glad it ended well!
Gerhard, the steam blown from the exhaust is probably due to a leak in the exhaust system. As long as the rpm is kept up the water will be turned to steam , but if the engine stalls for some reason, the pipe will fill with water and it...
Of course an enclosed cab gets a lot hotter than an open one and will need air conditioning. Just blocking the sun and leaving the cab open (windshield open and and back rolled up) makes it very tolerable even w/o A/C.
There is the hot firewall, though, it measured 120 to 130°F during my last...
Wonder how my mix of 50/50 homebrewed, unwashed biodiesel and filtered used veggie oil would turn out in a test.... :-)
All I know is that the multifuel never ran better, lots of torque, lower EGT and if I had a sound db meter, I swear the noise level is lower too.
Got the marker lights finished on the deuce a couple of weeks ago. Here is a rear view. Note the location of the BO marker lights, sides and rear, pretty much by the book.
20 people in the back? Unsafe off-roading is an understatement!
I always use tire chains when in mud, snow or questionable off-road situations. In 11 years , never got stuck and i have hauled some heavy stuff out of the woods on often muddy hilly terrain.
Added weight and singles help a lot...
Glad you'r okay, Kenny. A cut like that sure bleeds a lot, can look real scary too.
I can see how you might get hurt in your eagerness to help someone, slow down a little!
I'm thinking about the brakes you adjusted on my deuce while I visited you last winter, by the time I finished the sentence...
Hey Jeff, I know we met at Aberdeen a couple of years ago. Hope you are doing well....
Yes, I was offended, there are other ways to make a point as I'm sure you know.
Steve Turchet has more MV driving/using/servicing experience than most people on this forum and his articles has enabled...
The only factor is viscosity and I routinely use a mixture of biodiesel and veggie oil, which is much "thicker" at room temperature compared to diesel.
You should be fine running on heating fuel, especially now in the summer time. It should even give you a little boost in power (although the FDC...
The man's name is Steve Turchet (spelling above just doesn't deserve to be left un-corrected). I'm a big fan of his writings even if kind of opinionated at times.
All right Ron, anywhere on the I-77, I-81 to the I-66, I'm within an hour to a few hours. 540 593-2001
(If you are talking about the 4th weekend of July, I may be on my way to Calif, though)
Here I go bringing up the fuel tank grounding again, but who knows...Anyway, the fuel tank is isolated from the frame by strips of liner on the supports and is grounded via one wire, #79, which connect the connector housing on the fuel pump to the frame.
The tank itself is grounded via the...
A transmission temp gauge may not be a bad thing. An increase in the temperature of the oil
should be a good indicator of a friction problem and a pending failure.
Question is, is there a good spot for the sending unit?
