To be honest, I don't really see the need in a puke tank. I changed the antifreeze in my truck right after I got it and the level has stayed right at the top ever since.
It is TN state law that you can get a TN state title with a bill of sale for any vehicle over 25 years old. With that being said, I've ran it buy my local clerks office (the people that handle tags and titles in TN) and they just look at me with a blank stare. aua
Maybe somebody will chime in...
3/4 head size= 1/2" bolt. 15/16 head size= 5/8" bolt. That's the general rule but you will see an odd bolt size/wrench size combo every now and then.
As stated above, It could be that they stripped them out and went up a size.
Rest assured, as alternative fuels become more mainstream they will find a way to tax it .
I know alot of alternative fuels such as electric and biofuels aren't taxed at the moment on purpose. They are trying to make it a tax incintive to run electric and biofuels.
It won't be hard to find a t-case. It will just be hard to find one that doesn't cost more than you paid for the truck. While there are 6X6 trucks in that size range they are kind of rare in the civilain market.
I've been trying for some time to find a used auxiliary box for a KW with a 550hp...
In TN it's kind of a grey area with running alternatve (non-taxed) fuels from what I've read. I'm not saying I've never run anything other than pump diesel in my deuce but I'm not going to post about in in a public forum ;-).
edit- I had a long rant about fuel taxes and who should pay them...
Finding a front axle that has the same gear ratio as the back could be hard to find depending on what they are. Finding a t-case that would hold up to a 400 Cummins could be tough too without spending some big bucks.
You're not crazy. If you can figure out how to make it all work, I say go for it.
Chuck, Thanks for posting the link. It's still a sticky over at the old site but some members don't know about it.
I like the LOGSA site over the TM section here because it is searchable.
Guys, I'm no big fan of taxes but somebody has to pay to build the roads. IMO the fairest way to tax something is to charge the people that use it (through the gas tax). Anybody avocating trying to "get around" paying gas taxes is tax evasion pure and simple.
Now you can argue the gas tax is...
Better take this to a PM. It is against the forum rules to talk specifics about upcomming auctions and to talk about "splitting" lots with somebody.
You can find the TMs here Steel Soldiers :: Military Vehicles Supersite .
Make sure you have good batteries. That could be the starter problem.
Leaking axle seals are pretty common. Do a search for "axle seal replacement" and you should find some good info.
The deuce won't go into first...
While I don't know anything about military wreckers, I have been around alot of hyd systems. I good quality 10w hyd oil should be fine. Alot of the older systems did call for 10w engine oil. The problem with using engine oil is the correct oil is hard to find these days. I do know that if you...
I did mail it one time when all other methods failed (for some reason they kept saying the DL pic wasn't clear enough).
Mail will work but just make sure you send it certified mail so you'll have a receipt that they recived it.
:ditto:
Parting out looks good on paper when you go to adding up the sum of the parts but it's not as easy as it looks.
Do you have some way to lift and move around atleast 3,000lbs.? That would be the bare minimum you'd need to lift some of the parts and to load them for the buyer. You...
The truth is, if I spent as much time working on my truck as I do on here talking about working on my truck I'd have the best truck around. :-D
Seems like there is always something to be done when it comes to these trucks. I assume that you'll reach a point where you either give up or get...
If they decide to close it down I'll haul all the stuff out of that big building in the middle of the field for them ;-).
All joking aside, I wonder what this move is going to cost John Q. Taxpayer?
