GL doesn't have anything to do with it. The "bully" you speak of is the Federal Government ;).
I'm no fan of GL but this is not their fault. They had rather not have to deal with recovering property the Government wants back.
Scrap is running $200 per ton here right now so that's about $1,200 per deuce.
Most scrap dealers will be willing to bargain on anything over scrap value. Some people you just can't deal with. I have found that the general public not connected with military surplus either think it's not worth...
As a rule of thumb you want your tow vehicle to be as big or bigger than the vehicle being towed.
I bought a deuce about 20 miles from my place awhile back. I thought about towing it home with my Dodge 3/4 ton but decided I would use the deuce. As I was towing it home I made a left turn and...
I honestly can't think of a reason your City would need the CTIS. It's more likely to have flats from sitting for long periods with the CTIS operating.
Which location is this?
The lots at Ft. Campbell have said "buyer loads" but they have always loaded me if I needed it.
edit- Never mind. I noticed you talked about some lots at said location so we don't need it posted util the auction is over. PM sent.
It's my understanding that there is a check valve in the fuel line (in the pump maybe?) that prevents fuel from draining back to the tank while sitting.
I've had a couple of trucks that would loose their prime if they sit for very long. Seems they will start better if you turn the power on...
I'm curious as to why you say it isn't really a diesel? When switched to "diesel mode" it works like any other diesel. IH called them diesels.
Back in those days almost all diesels were hard to start. That's why IH went with the design they did and why the Cat and JD diesels started with gas...
Some do . The first diesels in IH tractors started on gas and switched over to diesel. On one side of the engine they had a carb and spark plugs. The other side had an IP and injectors.
There's nothing wrong with seeing what you can get out of the multifuel. What I was saying in my post above is that it's not really cost effective to try and turn a multifuel into a modern diesel.
Some people do things just to see if they can. I'm all for that if that's what you have in mind...
You get to a point on these engines with upgrades to where it's like polishing a turd. Don't get me wrong, I like the multifuel but you can sink alot of money into them trying to get the hp up only to end up with a rod through the block. There are ways to fix the rod issue too but where do you...
I drive big trucks and know all about clutchless shifting but shifting a syncro trans without using the clutch is hard on the syncros.
I know several truckers that also have small trucks with manual trans. Since they are used to clutchless shifting they would shift their small vehicles...
Will, there is some debate as to whether the water in the manifold heats or cools the air. Some say it's to warm the air in cold climates.
I tend to think it will cool the air some at high boost pressures but I don't think it's very efficient.
There was a thread where somebody added one to a 5-ton multifuel. The grill had to be redesigned though.
I'm wondering if you could use a A3 front grill and fit a innercooler in there?
I tend to think it wouldn't make that much difference either. I have no data to back it up though. I'm sure it would make a difference I just don't think it would be enough to ever notice.
IMO the best thing you could do to increase available O2 would be to find a way to stuff a charge air...
:ditto:
While some DI engines have them as a starting aid, IDI engines almost have to have them to get started even in the summer.
The multifuel is about the best starting diesel I've ever started. I think that has to do with the high compression it has compared to other diesels.
And yes...
