No, you're not "wasting" any voltage when you pull off of one battery. While the complete system is 24v if you pull off of one battery only you've only got 12v. You are in a sense splitting the system when you pull off of one battery. Nothing is wasted but because the charging system is...
I've gotten so used to using the main page it's a pain to go to each individual forum to see the post but I'm getting by.
I've also noticed the smilies to the right are different also so they must be working on the site. Maybe that's it.
I think the clutch pumps work fine but I'd rather have a PTO pump myself. IMO it's easier to install a PTO pump and it's a "cleaner" setup. You'll be happy with either one.
For some reason when I open up the main page the recent threads are blank (as in nothing there). The happened last night and it's like that again tonight. I was on SS at the computer at work earlier in the day and the threads were there.
The forces applied when winching cause the worm gear to try and back out of the housing. It is true that if you wound the cable the other way the force would try and push it out the front. The other problem with winding the cable the other way would be that the brake would be trying to hold the...
The other weak link is the bronze gear. With the whole case on both sides being AL, the winch is pretty fragile when pushed beond it's limits. You can also bust the case if you let too much cable pile up on one side.
Bottom line is, use whatever pin you like but don't be suprised when you...
Talked to Autometer today and they said the current draw was "around" 200mA @ 12v. Don't know if my meter is wrong or I read it wrong to get 75mA @ 13.8v.
It all depends.
If you buy everything new and pay somebody to install it can run into several thousand dollars.
You can usually find an old civilain dump in a junkyard and get everything you need (except maybe PTO) for around $500 or so.
Or you can do like I did and gather a few parts here...
You can argue Jwallers post may have been a little harsh but he does have a valid point.
When you check your MC and it's dry it's a bad idea to just refill it and drive away as had been done in the past by the OP.
I don't think most are morons. Just people with a "I don't give a sh** attitude". I do quite a bid of business with the government and run into this all the time on the federal, state, and local levels.
I've run into the "I don't give a sh**" attitude with GL quite a bit also. It's just the...
Is that a bed on the back? Looks like a MV converted into some sort of pimp mobile. We've all seen the lowrider deuce and other MVs converted to something stupid but this one takes the cake.
I had to google "burning man" to know what it was. Sounds like a bunch of hippies to me.
I dare...
Been doing alot of researching on the net about this. Alot of it is still over my head but I'm learning.
Anybody ever heard of a linear IC regulator or a zener diode? Looks like either may work for small current 12v loads.
Rick, I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what they say.
I'm pretty good with basic wiring but get confused a little when you start talking about amp draw, resistors, ohms, and such.
I've had a uncle pass away that was a TV repairman and he left me a bunch of fancy meters and testers...
Here is a thread that will tell you all you ever wanted to know about shear pins. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/7948-winch-shear-pins.html?highlight=winch+shear+pins
Gringeltaube did alot of research on this and made a list of different pin materials and their breaking strength.
I just read a thread where m35-tom installed a VDO electric pyro. He said the VDO has a constant draw so I'd say there's a pretty good chance the Autometer gauge is also. I'm going to do some checking and if everything seems ok I'm just going to install a resistor in the line.
I don't want to...
Do they send SF97s to Battle Creek? I was under the impression that GL handled the whole SF97 process in house.
I don't even know of a way to check the status of a SF97 other than calling them and any time I've called them I just get the " it's in process" response.
