Nah, I can't explain it. Maybe there was a tube in it, and it ripped apart and left itself on the road somewhere between Chambersburg and Strasburg (100 miles), that's the only logical explanation I can give it. All I can say is there's nothing there now. I can't envision a depot, or any...
Not sure you guys got this when you read the post - there was NO tube inside the tire at all, I reached in the loose tire and checked. Yes, this one was towed back from Chambersburg in January, glad it got home without incident now that I see this tubeless tire was present.
Yup - if it has rot in the rockers or floors, $3900 is very steep. Guys here have gotten good condition runners with no rot for low $2K range. I'm not a sheet metal repairman, but from what I understand, replacing floorboards takes mostly time and a MIG welder. Not difficult, but a lot of...
Has anyone ever seen one of those MX-2799s? If they are interchangeable with the -6707, and can find a mount for it, I might be interested in one. I guess if I can't find it on eGay, they aren't out there.
RE: 2wd dodge M880
They are M890s. There were also M891s, M892s, and M893, perhaps others. I owned one for a little while, traded it to ShieldWolf37. They are common, but less so than the M880s. Most have been rusted out and parted out to supply M880s with useful parts over the years. They...
Spent some hours going over my deuce this weekend, making sure fluid levels were topped and that everything is in order for the big trip next week in the East Coast Convoy, and the trip up and back from Aberdeen. During the inspection, I checked tire pressures, all varied between 25psi and 55...
I bought a set of 5 of them from a gent in TN last year, who had them listed on m715zone.com. He as since sold out, good luck finding a set, they pretty much were all snatched up by 715 and Gladiator drivers.
I got a PM asking me about personal vehicles being in the convoy, thought I would address that:
POVs and civilian vehicles are fine to use in the convoy! They are called "escort vehicles", you're more than welcome to join us! I realize that fuel prices have really impacted the cost of driving...
Noticed a small problem with the jeep this weekend. Won't stay in 2nd gear. If I am in 2nd gear, and have the power on, it stays there just fine. But if I let the power up, say, if I take my foot off the gas, it will just slip out of place into neutral. It's not a huge problem, I just have...
Second that. Discussing armor capabilities on vintage equipment that isn't used by USA anymore is fine, as we are collectors and historians. Discussing armor capabilities of currently used items, especially ones that are currently deployed in hot spots, MAY COST LIVES. Bad guys are on the...
RE: Re: RE: If I where to sell it what would you give me?
Don't part it out, looks good despite the lack of an engine. I know it's always tempting to part something out, since you'll get more for it than if you sell whole, but a lot of parts (small parts, mainly) get wasted in the process, and...
If you need canvas, there are any number of sources for it, including Beachwood, Pizzoferrato, etc. Prices are about equal, for new canvas vs. new vinyl. I'd go with the vinyl, trust me. You will never have to worry about rot with a vinyl cover.
