when I add Diesel 911 to my GMC it has a really sweet smell. Almost like burning sugar, the guys at the dealership were like what the heck is that smell. It very well could be the cleaner.
I would use coolant for heavy truck/ Diesel. I have used the cheap old green stuff and it does not seam to lest a good long time in the deuce. Make sure to flush the snot out of it before you add the new stuff.
you bet, put the T case In "N" and leave the trans in park. If you are going to tow over 45 mph make sure to remove the rear drive shaft or you will cook the T case. Yes I have cooked mine. You have to keep it slow due to the gearing, or remove the rear drive shaft.
RE: issues
prob starter.. thats really the only thing that will dead short it out.(if the cable did not rub and ground out) take out the starter, have it checked, and replace all the cables. cant go wrong having it checked.
i bet the seal got messed up. you did wipe the seal edge down with ATF first before installing the converter? you want to lube it up so it does not burn out while its running dry till it pumps the fluid
you can try a lift pump but it sounds like the injector pump has some sort of internal problem. best bet is just to get a used one or look on ebay... there new ones all the time for couple hundred.
COULD BE... START IT AND RECHECK THE FLUID. COULD JUST BE LOW. (SORRY CAPS DARN DOG) if the TQ is out of fluid the pump will have a really hard time even moving because the fluid in the converter is what makes it move. No fluid= no move= no turn pump.
I hope you refilled the TQ converter before you reinstalled it. Other wise it wont pump fluid you have to "prime" them, they wont pump air.
If you did not line up the splines and make sure it was locked in you could be out of spline, BUT then there would not be enough room to bolt up the bell...
