well I installed 6.5 turbo injection pump and injectors and bumped the timing, that really helped a lot. The two other things you can do is add a set of headers or a turbo set up.

you cant adjust the factory one.. you have to buy a B&M one, there about 40 bucks. you can adjust the vac controller on the side of the injection pump. play around with that and see if you can adjust the shifts a little with that. and last note make sure all the vac lines are good and hooked up...
Get the B&M trans modulator... summit racing or any auto parts can order one, there like 40 bucks and you can adjust the shift points. LOTS better then stock, its the first thing I replace on my CUCV's

just start it and run it. you should have no problem, Diesel can last over 10 years with no stabilizer.
