I had a 2003 Dodge Cummins and the horsepower advantage over my 91 and 93 Cummins trucks was huge. The old trucks had plenty of torque, you would either pull it, spin the tires, or break something. The 2003 with a boost from Edge Performance though was like driving a big block Chevelle in the...
How long does GL wait before cancelling the sale? My EUC has been at BC since October 2nd. 29 days in October and 23 in November, I am at day 52 now. Yikes!! Glen
That is awesome! One day I would love a journey like theirs. I would rather do mine in a Blazer or pickup though. I am betting they have parts of their bodies that hate that truck right now! I hope the rest of the trip is safe and trouble free. Glen
That is awesome! I called him this morning and they were on the western edge of Indiana. Terre Haute.... spelling? Anyway, that is one awesome looking truck and apparently in great mechanical shape as well. It is knee deep in rubber, he will be able to run a while on those tires. The bed looked...
I guarantee there will be rescue photos.... I want to find a pintle hitch trailer to go get it with my M1008, but I will probably take my little brother up on his trailer-Ford option. It walked right down the road with my M1008 on board. That Ford of his is a pretty impressive truck.
I think our plan is to drive it on the trailer and head home. I can go through the brakes, checking for cracked flex lines and replacing anything that looks bad. While I am there, I will repack the front bearings and check to see if the seals have been leaking. Good brakes is my first priority...
It should be any day now or I got rejected for some reason. It was the end of September when I bought the Blazer. Wish I could have made last weekend's run in it instead of the M1008. I noticed Jefferson City listed the one next to mine. It would not cost much more to haul two home!
Oooohhhhh.. 11-14 would kill me... I do live in a relatively state though and I know if I push 60 it drops to 14-16 on this truck. I also accelerate very gently and try to start coasting early to stop. I am hoping my M1009 is better on fuel. If not, I may look into a 4 or 6 cyl Cummins for it.
The one I have now could be a M1028 as I have not pulled the front cover to check to see if it has a limited slip. Both of mine hit second gear so hard it seems almost violent. Third gear has always been pretty firm as well on both trucks. I think my old truck had a little more power as well...
Mine will pull 70 mph with no problem, maybe faster, but it sounds like it is screaming for relief. I normally do my best to stay under 55 and it gets 17 to 19 normally on the road, about 15 to 17 in town. I drive it kind of gentle and consider the engine noise to be sweet music. My previous...
My first one would break 20 pretty regularly if you stayed under 50 mph. This one will not do that. This was the best it has done on a trip of this type though. I am hoping my EUC will come back soon so I can go get my M-1009. The engine noise on this truck has gone up a bunch in the last 2500...
I changed the ignition lock so it was different than the rest of the CUCVs around and put in a set of glow plugs. Changed the oil and the coolant, put in a new set of glow plugs and drove it. It will be close to a quart low in 3,000 miles. This one is not as easy on fuel or as loud as my first...
Out Geocaching again, put 1,100 miles on the beast in two days. I found some pretty historic spots and saw a lot of beautiful country. This is one fine running old Chevy. Not a glitch in the whole trip, back roads, highways, trails and Interstate, it just gobbled up the miles....almost 19 MPG...
Wish he would have explained how he powered the winch on the tail. In my M715, I ran heavy cables to the rear, same with my M1008 when I put a rear winch under the box. I used a 10,000 ARB (Warn) on my Kaiser in the rear. 8,000 winches on the M-1008. Maybe he just used welding leads or a heavy...
