Technical manual for the 1009 is clear, 1/4 ton trailers.
With that said, I often tow my M101A1 with very heavy loads but rarely for more than 2 hrs duration. I recently moved houses and roughly 20,000 pounds were moved 3 miles using he 1009 and trailer. Also have had up to 3100 pounds of...

Yep, know what you're talking about. Was in FRG from 88-92. Each year I was there I never spent less than 200 days in the field. Guess we both were up close and personal for the fall of the Wall. Something we can tell our grand kids about.
Was with 5-68 and 3-77 Armor 8th ID and then went...
Great Picture. Graf was awesome in the old days (of course we always "be-itched" about the weather). One of those great locations for seeing once in a life time events.
What unit were you in and when??
Hey, what ever happened to Mr. "I have a VIC-3 system for $1000"?
Chuck you could always contact him to see if he still has another one for $1000 that he pulled out of the garbage at Ft Monmouth.
Why would you want to do that to a 101A2! Just about anyone here would swap out an 101A1 so you could do the same thing and not ruin one of the harder to obtain 101A2's. Your pulling the axle and surge brakes on it anyway.
Fail to see why you would have paid for an A2 just to civilianize it...
RE: Re: I got pulled over in my Deuce
Oh crap, here we go again with the "Military Police" is illegal to have on your truck---no it isn't---yes it is---no it isn't ---yes it is---no it isn't.......... thread again.
I almost forgot in 14 months how much NY screws over the common folk. Always thought they would find a way to charge for the air (smog) we breathed up there if they could. Wonder they didn't put air measuring devices in each persons lungs and even charge the person for the surgery.
14 months ago and a former lifetime, I was driving a 1009 from Staten Island to Ft Dix nearly each day. I think it was around 60 miles on the NJTP. I had access to 6 CUCV's of which 4 were 1009's and 2 1008's. Only did the trip once in a 1008 and that was enough. I never want to do that...

Oh the days of fun while qualifying with the M3 Grease Gun! Man I would love to do that again.
That somewhat slow tat-tat-tat-tat-tat.
Man that's SWEET. Wish I could afford half the items shown. Just told the wife I wanted the M20 for Christmas but doubt we have the 30, 40, or 50 thou to buy it.
