Top is a general purpose antenna mount for multiple MVs. Bottom is a CUCV antenna mount brushguard for the side of M1008/M1009 trucks. I have a bunch of those, they are much sought after...
Pretty schweet. I think this is going to be a good year for a lot of us getting rigs restored. Ken, still looking forward to coming by sometime and getting some drive-seat time in the M-60. :grd:
RE: Re: RE: Progress on the -725, ready for assembly
Update as of April 2:
Didn't have too much time to play on the -725 this past weekend, had too many projects around the house. Here's what I managed to get done:
Disassembled the last of the little parts that I needed to bring to the...
I suspect the original purpose of this rig was as a rock hauler, hence the need for really heavy iron to hold up the cargo. I don't see a reason why that dump body couldn't hold 20 tons of rock or more.
The most I've ever heard of was 12 tons in a deuce. It was severely overloaded, but was only being used to ferry ammo from one side of the base to the other, REAL SLOWLY. They should have made more trips, or used a bigger truck, but from my understanding, the guys doing the job only had access...
You might have a hard time getting parts for the Datsun engine on the crane. Though it may be a good candidate for a repower to a diesel.
For $2K or best offer, GO FOR IT! And paint it GREEN!
Saw this down the road, I mentioned it in chat on Wednesday night, and a couple asked me to get a couple pics. Here's the info I got about it.
1956 Mack Model B gasoline dump truck. 131,000 miles. Tandem axles. Body is solid, surface rust only. Runs, but runs rough and needs work...
Looks like I'll have to send a check to Memphis. When I called them last year, they were out and didn't know if they were going to make more. I stopped by two muffler shops today and neither said they would make me a replacement muffler. So I guess I'll go with the only source that Armada...
From MVM:
April 7, 2007 - Pottstown, PA. Greater Pennsylvania Military Vehicle Historical Society Spring Rally & Flea Market, North Coventry Fire Department, 144 W. Schuykill Rd (Rt. 724). Info Joe Slavinski, 610.970.5254 or Ed Kulp, 610.384.0941; email: info@gpamvhs.org
I think it would be a good idea to be able to sort, or have it sorted already, the information on the Parts Cross Reference page, by M-series model number of the vehicle in question. Looks a little disorganized to me...
Anyone going to this event next week? Small show, not too many parts, but it's a get together that is convenient to a lot in the SW PA area.
Might be going up with a buddy in his new 1953 M37...first trip in his new toy!
