Welcome from another Alaska member! (Fairbanks and Southeast). Due to unforeseen events I myself have found myself surrounded by 5 tons, even though they aren't my own.
Shoot me a PM if you ever want to get together!
Funny you should mention a sawmill, as that's a situation in which I could use one here, as we have one! I have beachfront property and an M936 would be great for dragging logs up the hill/beach.
Re: repairs, I believe it! These trucks often "sat" in their military service and thus...
98G, that truck is a thing of beauty. Right now I'd give anything for a long-distance trip riding shotgun in an M939 series truck. I remember you texting me about the seat install but then I've been out of cell service ever since. Glad to see you've got her up and out on the road, makes my...
Fascinating thread! Gstirling, you daily driving this thing? I'd like to get an M936A1 and in addition to an income source I'd frankly make it my daily driver.
One of the things which has kept me in this hobby this long has undoubtedly been the camraderie! I've had people check in on me, even through here, many times and have done/wondered the same...people suddenly disappear and we start to worry!
Welcome! I might be coming through Anchorage in August, trying to meet a few other members. I'm a Fairbanks/Southeast resident but PM me if you ever want to try and get together!
Welcome!

First of all, welcome!
As others have said, make sure you can get titled, etc and look for maintenance issues. While not to start an insurance/CDL thread, be sure to look into all of the above and beware you will likely get conflicting information. (If you want to know my recent experiences...
Fascinating thread! I myself am one day going to have to buy myself an M1070, and threads like this are invaluable to me. Threads like this on the Deuce and a Half and M939 Series 5 tons eventually turned me into what other people call a wealth of knowledge.
Been meaning to ask, speaking of Alaska:
Who had the M925 parked at MSI Autoparts in Fairbanks all last winter? I actually stopped and talked to the manager of the location thinking it was being junked and cut up, only to learn it had a loving owner. Would love to meet you if you're on...
I've bid on numerous XLWB models, back when I actually had money to blow, alas never won. Ask 98G, he could tell you some stories about schooling me on bidding on M939s at auction. I learned five tons of info on what to look for from him.
