Each of the o-rings or seals mentioned have been discussed and replacement part numbers posted before. When I have more time I may try to find them and add them here to this thread. If I don't(or someone else does not) remind me later.
No, you cannot diagnose the relay by sound.
Read the cucv stickys.
Download the TMs.
Use the troubleshooting procedure in the -20TM.
You may simply have a fuel/air leak, causing it to loose prime.
In post # 2, he is discussing the facts of the voltages that can be switched(depending on which way your truck is wired).
The fact is, the control(coil) voltage is 12volts. (no matter how your truck is wired)
The switched voltage does not matter(therefore there is no need to discuss the 2...
Replace the internal regulator, and other cheap internal items.(diode trio, rectifier, capacitor)
Less than $45 to rebuild them.
Your problem is most likely your voltage regulator.
Post #2 is a bit confusing because that info is irrelevant to the relay voltage rating.
There is no voltage rating for the contacts, they are rated in amps.
The 12 volt rating for the ST85 relay is for the control coil, not the relay contacts. The relay contacts are rated in amps.
The CUCV control voltage is 12 volts.
No, there have not been any new options.
Google search, 24dc to 12dc converter. Or, dc to dc converter.
Narrow it down by adding an amp rating(when you know what you need).
