I could understand the GP's causing problems on a cold start or even a fairly cool restart. What I don't buy is them being a culprit on a warm engine. One, the GP controller won't turn them on so that eliminates one problem. Two, even if the GP controller did turn them on, the affect would be...
My Ford wheels are 9.75" wide and I think are too wide, plus it makes seating the head a chore. Requires a blast gun or ether. I think an 8" would make life easier for servicing.
Regardless of whether you buy the centramatic balancers, equal, bb's, golf balls, etc. it will only cure wheel hop and not a shimmy (dynamic) balance concern. Your solution is valid but not the end all to wheel balance issues.
No matter what option you choose, the end result is that the tires...
Just going off symptoms, I vote for IP replacement unless you are getting air in from old hoses.
At no point should adding or substituting an electric fuel pump solve any problems. The system works fine with a mechanical lift pump. The only reason to replace it with an electric is going to a...
I run my MT's on Ford rims with zero balancing done to them and they are OK. Remember, these are used and at this point getting fairly old. You will be hard pressed to get one perfect for something of this age and size with conventional weights. Adding a Hummer rim almost guarantees slip on...
I have yet to see that vintage rig with a FF 14 bolt in a 4wd configuration, only the 2wd rigs get that.
I concur, unless you see a 24v system or any other BO light switches stock, more than likely a clone. I'd still drive it :)
3.08 10 bolt should be no problem to find, it is finding one that doesn't have the grenade pin already removed...
Consider this a great time to invest money elsewhere.
If the rims you have work, why not just go with that backspacing?
There is no right answer, the higher backspacing will keep the steering geometry working correctly and minimize tire rub on the fenders but the less backspacing will push the tire out for track width and keep them away from...
I agree, something that old I wouldn't think twice about replacing it. Even if you fix the leak the IP is probably old and will cause other issues down the road. New filter, new IP, new glow plugs, new fuel lines...good for another 50k to 100k miles.
Sounds like linkage not adjusted correctly (not fully engaging 4HI) or the shift fork pads are worn.
Undo the linkage and manually shift it into 4HI, then roadtest and see what happens.
Looking good!
That is a mighty big plow for a 1 ton...looks like the ol' M1008 works it like a champ. I think a new Chev would spit it's plastic ball joints out while dragging it's frame trying to do that.
This probably wouldn't be my preferred method. I have seen batteries come out on the trail even with a factory tie down. An Optima will actually work after you run it over.
Used to buy Optimas for my personal wheeling rigs and installed them for customers...they are completely hit or miss for quality. I shop by price and warranty. I love my Group 31 Exides from Tractor Supply. $100 each and still going strong. Just started my M1031 after sitting for two months...
Yikes! Ohms law should be on the entry exam...
You must do a lot of running around checking others work.
A thanks is necessary, you guys make sacrifices to do the work you do.
OK so you are know my new official hero only second to the guy that gets to sit in the left seat, or front seat, or only seat I guess :)
If I could go back to the high school days, I wouldn't think twice about joining for either technician or pilot but got sucked into the automotive industry...

No image of just the hitch but you can see how it fits under the truck. I was surprised at how high and tight it stays to the OEM bumper.
