    Newbie/POSSIBLE Future '71 Deuce Owner, from Alaska/California

Great "Pickups", they do make! Firewood, trips to the lumberyard, etc. Might be also be actively helping remodel/flip a house while living up there, and having wood heat, so it would come in handy I think. Plus that "Cool" factor. Fairbanks, AK itself has a pretty good bus system from what...

    Newbie/POSSIBLE Future '71 Deuce Owner, from Alaska/California

OK, so here's the deal as of now, the better part of a year later (It just made me realize how high my post count is already!). The story gets even weirder. So the truck ended up being a civvy flatbed (was convinced it was a Deuce from the description), BUT, there's a '68 M35A2 I'm going to try...

    My first MV 1993 M35A3

Looks good! That's pretty cool you'll be daily-driving this one! I'm possibly trying to pursue a '68 M35A2...as a first vehicle and daily driver.

    Memphis to southen miss 3/29

That is kind of unusual IMO! You'd think it'd be noticeable!

    Memphis to southen miss 3/29

Remind me, what's the backstory behind the hole in the block and the destruction of the transfer case?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

    Wow, that's terrifying!
  7. 71DeuceAK

    Deuce as daily driver?

Sounds like what my situation might be, I'm currently considering a '68 myself, as my first vehicle (18 y/o) and yup, most of my driving would probably happen at 50MPH on the freeway, knowing where I'd be driving.

Yours looks like an "A0", that is, a straight M923 (M939 series). M923A1 would've had the super singles but would have still had the Cummins NhC250 engine. A M923A2 would have the super singles, CTIS, a 6CTA 8.3L Cummins engine, and a turbo. "A0" isn't necessarily a true term, just used by...

    THAT is pretty cool!

    Deuce as daily driver?

    LOL. Yeah. Gotta have that!

    Deuce as daily driver?

I'm always glad to read others' stories of daily-driving theirs. I'm considering one myself and would probably daily-drive it, too. In the winter. In Alaska. In Fairbanks. rofl

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Wow, sounds like you've got quite a bit going on with your trucks! I remember when you got your first, green 923 a few months back...your "collection" sure has "grown" since then!
  13. 71DeuceAK

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Repowering these trucks has always fascinated me since I got interested in them. What are your plans for the M931? You must be keeping your two 923s now instead of selling out?

    M923: mudding or not?

Wow, that sounds like it makes it even more fun, not having to do the "recovery" and "cleanup" work!

Welcome to the site! I'm also a kayaker, but out of necessity; I live in rural southeast Alaska on an island with no cars. So I'm also used to paddling in some nasty conditions!

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Lookin' good, Andy! Simp, wow, that's a bummer. Pulling the engine out of the green 923 then?

    M923: mudding or not?

Ah fun, 5 ton buried up above the axles!
  18. 71DeuceAK

    M923: mudding or not?

I'd heard of Detroit lockers before, come to think of it!

    M923: mudding or not?

Same here, I've never understood the concept of differentials very well...it might as well be magic...
