    M1028 Small Lift Build

I called Denise at ORD and he was very knowledgeable when it came to MV Chevys. He answered all of my questions regarding my M1031 with regards to the rear overload leaf setup and why I was better off using a shackle flip because of my particular usage. He also mentioned he personally owns a...

Could this be a transmission filter clog?

After ruling out vacuum and fluid condition/level issues, it sounds like you have delayed engagement which is classic worn transmission. If the above check out OK, I would probably go onto a pressure test and stall test to determine if it's a hydraulic pressure issue or if the clutches are...

New Dash, Where To Order From?

I haven't read any good reviews of the OAR dash which is also sold by Dashes Direct. I am going to look more into the LMC Truck dash which is about $350. Let us know how you make out...

    M1009 or regular blazer?

I think all Civy Blazers of that era with a 6.2 diesel should have a 700r4 not a th400. If someone ordered a half ton vehicle, I think it should of had a th350, not the th400.

    M1008, a whole new dog

I'm pretty sure the carrier split on a D60 is 4:10/4.56 meaning you will need a new carrier for those gears. Good opportunity for a traction aiding differential.

Blazer front axle seals replaced...oh my

Good call! Invest in some quality made ones (like genuine Dana/Spicer if you can find them) and not some cheapos.

    tansmission fluid change question

I have a pto np205 in my M1031 which I have to change the fluid this week. I'm pretty sure it calls for Dexron II, not gear oil.

Blazer front axle seals replaced...oh my

Major design/service downfall with GM, AAM, and Dana axles. Toyota, Nissan, and Land Rover axles are much easier to service even though they are closed knuckle designs. Mercedes are on the outside but those Germans put the spindle on the wheel hub...must do things backwards. Make sure you have...

    M1031 build thread

I finished up my shackle flip, bled the brakes with my uber cool $30 a quart DOT5 brake fluid, dropped the vehicle weight on the suspension to tighten all of my fasteners up, and put my wheels on. The truck now has a great stance, very proportional to to the truck and tire size. This is how...

MV Multiplication...unknown cure other than to buy more:grin: Can I ask what the difference between caps is? I started looking at 6.2 photos online and it seems that each type of cap is used. You say that it is some type of pressure cap. It does look like a small radiator cap. I am unfamiliar...

    Dana 60

I would first spend money to have someone put it on a modern alignment rack to see what each tire looks like. If you have zero toe instead of slight toe in, this aggravates the problem. Plus you will see if you have any setback, caster, or camber issues. If all numbers are in the green or at...

    M1031 build thread

Thankyou, I'm digging the M1031. Makes me want to go out and get an M1009 for a DD. I have to wait for the girlfriend to accept this one before I go out and surprise her with another:) I looked up on RockAuto two oil filler caps. The one for an 84' K30 6.2 is: More Information for STANT 10066...

    M1031 build thread

I do plan on keeping it. I originally wanted to get rid of the entire PTO generator setup but have decided to rewire it for single phase 120/240v and sell my Honda 5kW gas gennie. This way I can run pretty much anything I need including my house. I will pick up a small inverter camp gennie for...

    M1031 build thread

I figured I will have to trim. Did you need to cut the front or rear part of the fender? I chose not to do a zero rate and push the axle forward because I am planning on keeping the stock steering for awhile until more funds become available. I have a real lift, it will only lift vehicles...

    M1031 build thread

I didn't get much done today. I first did some engine service including replacing all of the coolant hoses, installing a new thermostat, and fixing a coolant crossover tube leak at the cylinder head. I used this as an opportunity to flush out the engine, radiator, and heater core with water...

First Time Buyer of CUCV questions

I would highly suggest paying more than you want for purchase price to get one that has been well kept. If you buy some junker thinking you'll pick it up cheap and fix it, you will be time and money ahead to just spend alittle more now. Obviously don't stretch yourself too thin if you can't...

HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

If you have a few hundred bucks kicking around, look up the mini ductor. Great tool for heating up metal parts without burning near by items. I use it all the time on under car stuff without worrying about burning a fuel tank, line, or seals. Works great for heating up steering box nuts and...

oil pressure light and one gen light stays on

Sounds like the cluster is powering up even with the key off. Does the 4wd light come on to if you shift the tcase? Could be a bad ignition switch. I'd say look at the TM and figure out what wire powers the cluster and see if it has power with the key off.

Thanks! This truck looks cleaner and cleaner the more I take apart. The only rust I could find was a small nickel sized spot on the drivers floorboard and some surface rust on the front right wheel well. I think someone exploded a battery or something because one tray and underneath it has some...
