There's no need to swap the tcase. Install is a moderate chore. A much easier install is a 24v warn 18k.

'Starting fluid' used regularly, other than through an on board metering device, has a potential to cause exactly the symptoms described.

Slave plug on one end. Anderson SB350 connector on the other. Do something like this and swap one end of your 2pin cable to an Anderson connector. Then put the (removed) 2pin on an Anderson connector. Now you have a slave cable that can go from 2pin to 2pin, or 2pin to single pin.
