Duramax and Allison (or 4L80). You get an extra gear. Drops cruising RPM to 1700ish.
My opinion, the extra gear is worth more than the extra power.
My other opinion, it's a lot of trouble and expense to go through for not a whole lot of return.
The hmmwv should have had a 4bt from the...
Driving at night has its own set of risks. Driving 25mph slower than everyone else in a vehicle with poorer lights and a color that's difficult to see runs a good chance of getting rear ended.
I've done it both ways, and after much consideration I've decided the right lane on the interstate...
Between Kingman and Flagstaff is a bunch of hills. That's going to be a handful in a slower than anticipated deuce, especially with someone not used to the peculiar skillset these trucks demand.
He should fill up in Kingman, and fill up again in Seligman to dilute any badness. He may very well...
My conjecture as to the cause of the problem -
The truck has been sitting not driven a lot. There's nastiness in the fuel system. He filled it with B20 biodiesel which is an excellent solvent. The B20 sloshed around for 4 hours. This cleaned much of the nastiness off the inside of the tank and...
Mildly. The logistics probably make it cheaper to just have it transported.
First off, deuces have a tendency to sometimes behave poorly on towbars. So we run the risk i get there and hook up to it and it won't tow. (And sometimes they tow fine. You don't know til you try.)
Secondly, I'm in...
I'd hook air to it and measure, but I'm unwilling to hack on the special fitting.
How much travel is there from bottomed out to fully inflated?
The manufacturer's site doesn't say.
Also, I've seen a bunch of them in M939series trucks. Anybody have comments on putting one in an M809series...
The 1102 chassis when in LTT configuration will handle a GVW of 4200lbs comfortably. And weighs something like 1000lbs empty.
Personally, I'd rather overload it slightly with the full 3500lbs payload than have a payload that sloshes.
I can't tell what what trailer is from the pic. It may...
Pickup truck with a welder in tow. They came out of the weigh station and stopped me. South Dakota. Told me anything over 8k or anything towing anything other than an RV has to stop. Not really relevant to OP's question.
TX has no interest in military vehicles. I've never stopped at a weigh...
These things are slow. About half the seat of the pants power of a modern jeep, which I wouldn't exactly describe as powerful.
Personally, I'm good with that. If I want to accelerate briskly, I use a different vehicle. This isn't the tool for that task.
But if you can't stand a two digit...
