A buddy has a set of real JW Speaker lights on one of his trucks, and Chinese knockoffs on some of his other trucks.
He says the main difference is that the range and reach of the high beams is substantially more on the real ones.
I'm interested in seeing your lexan covers. Be sure to post...
Not necessarily.
Sure, it makes for a much better interstate cruising vehicle.. but if your primary usage is back roads with a speed limit of 55 then that extra gear isn't so important.
6.2 vs 6.5 isn't much of a difference either, other than the additional reliability of the GEP variant of...
My best guess says someone added that bed onto a truck tractor. The wheelbase looks short, the paint doesn't appear to be an exact match, and I have never seen that type of wrecker bed used in military service.
There's really too many variables here to be able to give a definitive answer. Things that will influence it -
1) experience level and general competence level of the driver.
2) condition of the axles and springs and related mounting points
3) maximum speed
4) other traffic present
5) tow...
These aren't the old split rim "widowmakers".
Still, any tire stores considerable energy in the compressed air.
Most of the risk is when initially seating the bead. After that, the risk is pretty minimal.
A locking chuck that you can walk away from is a good investment. I have one. You want...
I'm sort of in the same position you are. I have an LWS ringmount for my M925 and nothing to put in it.
I'm somewhat picky and want something period correct. This excludes the 1919s. And the M60 is just such a turd.
I hesitated to spend $8k two years ago on a semi M249. A place in Phoenix...
The most probable failure modality is a leak on the hydraulic side. Additional air won't resolve that.
This has been beaten to death multiple times. Everyone who gets a deuce decides to resolve the brake problem.
Unfortunately, there is no really slick way to do it. Options are -
1) dual...
The semi auto's that'd be appropriate are the M240B, an M2HB or an M249. They're all frequently available, just expensive. The M249 would be the cheapest to acquire and the cheapest to feed. Acquisition cost >$12k in today's market, and $0.70-$0.90 per round to feed.
The M2HB would be the...
I have a hard top on my wrecker in KS. $1200 , come get it. $1600, I'll deliver. It'll be a few weeks. I'm in AZ at the moment.
If you have a frame, I think I have a serviceable soft top. The plastic strip is off the front. I'll look when I get back to KS. It'll be a while.
If you get a 936 stuck, it's stuck forever. Keep it on the hard surface and use winch cable to reach the stuck load.
Any 5ton with a winch is up to the task. Heavy rear drag winches preferred.
None of them are particularly comfortable on extended road trips. 100 miles is entertaining...
On the hmmwv's military standard 2 battery system you connect positive to the positive post on the front battery and negative to the negative post on the rear battery (or frame).
On the military standard 4 battery setup on 939series trucks, connect the positive to the front left positive post...
I'm a minimalist. I carry two jacks and a lugwrench, a towbar, and a basic set of tools.
Your chase vehicle means you can fetch anything you need. A chase vehicle and an extra person covers pretty much everything.
I use 15W40 in everything diesel.
